  1. My first bass in 1977 was a jedson and I played in 2 reggae bands with it, and I still have it in my summerhouse and it works fine, although the jack is a bit crackly, flats would sound fine on it , and imo £80 was a bargain 🙂
  2. Hi al , I’ve used these in the studio and they sounded great when pushed , they have serious low end , I quite fancy one myself but I only do the occasional gigs now so I’m not sure about home use , and I think @taunton-hobbit has these 🙂
  3. I finally got around to fitting a ramp to my old fender jazz and I’m quite liking it , i haven’t noticed any drastic change in my playing yet , and raking feels different , but it’s early days, and it makes a good thumb rest 🙂
  4. I can’t make this one jazzy, hope all goes well 👍

  7. My son used to play this, it’s a great bassline 👍
  8. I was listening to Anarexol dub by eek a mouse yesterday, and that has that exact Bassline 🙂
  9. If you want me to do fancy stuff like go back and forth between G and D while you hold the G chord then forget it 😂😂😂
  10. I’d say it would be safer on anything heavier than a jazz to have strap locks as the leather is fairly soft 🙂
  11. Mine has been fine on my fender jazzes and my sandberg tt , but that’s quite light, I don’t use straplocks, but I’ll take some close up pics when I get home if you want 🙂
  12. I’ve got quite a few straps but I bought this Ibanez BWS90 , one around Christmas and it’s great, it’s really lightweight and comfortable and it grips well , https://www.fxpedal.co.uk/accessories-c31/straps-c172/ibanez-bws90-bass-workshop-strap-p3469
  13. I’m surprised no ones been tempted, just to get the , nifty metal star wars badge 😄
  14. @Punkviking I bought a set of these about 3 years ago for one of my jazzes just to try , and for the money they are really good, I think I paid £12 , and they are still going strong, I know a few other people on here also bought them 🙂https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F332636490116
  15. I’m sure I read once that a pp gift can also be reversed 🙂
  16. Lots of things will define your tone ie , the bass, your amp , your speaker, your settings , etc, but a heavier gauge string won’t necessarily give you a heavier tone , (by heavier tone I’m assuming you mean a deeper sound ). I play some pretty heavy reggae and dub and I get a perfect tone from 45-105 flatwound and 45-105 tapes . I’ve probably tried most strings over the years and I think a lot of it is just trying different ones until you find the ones you like, I’ve spent many nights trawling through BC marketplace and eBay at 2 o clock in the morning looking for strings 😁 I found mine in the end 🙂
  17. You’ve certainly got some very nice gear mr bassmayhem 👍
  18. I’ve had serious GAS for a shell pink limelight jazz lately to add to my collection 🙂
  19. For theory and technique I’ve been using, the Tony Grey bass academy for quite a few years, and DeLuca2277 has some good grooves on his site 🙂
  20. Teebs , I think I’ve found the perfect hat for when you’re playing 😁
