I’ve got the bassmute and it’s absolutely great, it can be finely adjusted to suit string spacing and the amount of mute you want to have, but I must agree they are expensive, I’m surprised no one has made a copy 🙂
A friend of mine plays in all over London and takes his markbass 2x10 on a small lightweight sack barrow with his amp strapped on top with a cover, Just an idea 🙂
I’ve had a few from these, and they’ve been good quality, I don’t know if they do custom ones but maybe worth asking 🙂https://www.voodoo-decals.com/collections/vendors?q=fender
I’ve just done exactly this today, I got my fender P bass out to photography and put up for sale, as I haven’t really played it in about a year , as I mainly use my jazzes or Sandberg. I had totally forgot how nice it sounded and felt, and really couldn’t put it down , so it’s staying now 😁. Really this just reminded me of why I bought it in the first place 🙂
Just a suggestion , but have you looked at the Yamaha bb , range , it seems to fit with what you’re describing, I’m not 100% sure if the neck widths vary, the Yamaha thread is great reading, and lots of good information 🙂
I learned my lesson long ago, about buying with my eyes instead of my ears ,and it’s cost me a lot of money , before I buy anything now, I do my research and try to “try before I buy “ to avoid disappointment 🙂
I’ve not long ago bought a custom and I too get a very comfortable feeling when I pick it up and play, and I like the sound of mine, but if I didn’t I’d have no problem whatsoever doing what you’re doing, for me it’s all about being happy with my instrument, not making a profit on it 🙂
