More lightweight bases from mainstream bass manufacturers, say sub 3.6Kg. I'm talking about basses in the lower and middle 'affordable' price brackets, which I guess is like sub £1200 to £700. Many are going the custom route for chambered bodies, like Maruszczyk for 'standard' shaped bassses (myself included). Sandberg also comes to mind. I'm not sure if you'd call their lightweight options mainstream and/or affordable though.

Thanks again, much appreciated for the reply! The issue with me using the white as the hot wire, is that the P pickups will be out of phase with the JJ. What I've done in the past, when P+J pickups are out of phase, is just swap the polarity. That is difficult to do here though.

Thanks very much for the reply! That makes sense, it'll be easier to resolder/reconnect the copper foil to the wire going to earth. I didn't mention that (as I understand it) the hot wire is currently connected to the foil.

Hallo! I've a Maruszczyk with Precision and a double J humbucker. The humbucker has a series/split/parallel switch. I've replaced the precision pickup with a Seymour Duncan one. The problem is I get a buzz when I touch the pole pieces. I'm assuming this is a grounding issue. The new Duncan P has foil on the back, covering the poles. I suspect that I should reverse the wires I'm connecting with the rest of the loom, so that the poles are grounded correctly? (If I remember correctly, I tried this and confirmed it was the case - it was out of phase & the buzz/hum went). If that is correct. I believe I need to also reverse the connections to the JJ humbucker or they will be out of phase? Nice, thanks for sharing! I was considering adding a pickguard to my burst 1024. I hadn't considered pickguard tape. I'm thinking of going traditional black/white/black!

Hey y'all. I've recently become a proud onwner of a EVO-II. Can anyone recommended a gig bag or hard-case at a (fairly) reasonable price? I saw a mention of a RokSak large, but couldn't find one that fits. I know some other users have got a fairly cheap and cheerful hardcase from ebay, so I'd appreciate confirmation of one that fits and is up to the job! It's been a bit of a minefield trying to find something with the right dimensions. Cheers!

Have you considered replacing the tuners with Hipshot Ultralites? My 1024 felt much better after using those. I'm guessing it would change how it hangs. I can relate though. I have shoulder issues and the way a bass hangs is important. I noticed that one of my lighter basses causes more pain (Aerodyne vs BB434), I'm presuming due to the way it hangs.

Thanks for your feedback both! I'll give it a go. I guess 128 will have to do 😉 The MC6 looks like a good unit, good size and screen too. I wonder how people get on without the screens. I'd like to build my own controller at some point, but I'm sure I'll be busy enough with figuring it out and making the presets.

I bought a used pickup that was advertised incorrectly. I only noticed 6 months later when I got around to install it & read the model/product code. Hot Stack Jazz vs Hot Jazz. Quite an important difference despite the name. I emailed and just got something like "OK, thanks".

Howdy all. I like how my Aftershock sounds & the range of tones I get out of it, but like many people I've heard, the 3 switches and preset mode don't cut it. The amount of times I've left it in the wrong mode or the wrong dial positions... I'm keen to hear if anyone has gone down the midi controller + hub route and stuck with it for live use? My pedalboard has a B3N on it, which is great in many ways, but the Aftershock is better in many ways for achieving the driven tones I want. If only more Aftershock presets were easily accessible in a live situation. I'm in a covers band where we play a range of rock with a good range of tones. I'm thinking of Motorhead, Audio slave, Muse. I realise there's a strong chance the audience won't care, the B3N would be fine or a core set of tones would be the way to go l, but hey 😁 Cheers!

I agree! Could you tell us the settings @bassman7755? I've been thinking to get hold of a VT and was curious how close my B3n would get to it Of course, there's a range of sounds you can get out of a VT, so I guess you'll be able to get nearer some than others.

Which one is which?! I think example 1 is the Zoom B1-4?

When I see an ugly bass, I can't help think think they aren't following the golden ratio (or the rule of thirds). I'm not a designer/artist myself, but in my understanding this is generally a mathematical relationship that the human mind perceives as pleasing to the eye. I'd love to hear an artist's perspective on some of these designs! Many months later, but I really got into my 434 and finally took a nice shot of it. I've got a gig on Sat and I think she's going to be my main. I also bought a black sparkle BB1100s which was a rash decision mourning the loss of the BBP34. It is nice but still too heavy. I'm trying VERY hard to resist the BBP34 in the Marketplace...
