  1. The trouble I have with strings is the slow decline, like the Boiling Frog analogy. It can be hard to notice if you don't have a EQ/effects reference. Am I the only one to get slightly neurotic about it? 🤣 That's a reason I go for Elixirs!
  2. Bought a BB from Nigel. Plain sailing all the way
  3. We only went ahead and recorded it ... Recorded with a Fender Aerodyne.
  4. I think this was one of the first we recorded remotely. I think we spiced the original up a bit, in a good way. I think I'm running a little too hot and the improvisation at the end is a bit off the tempo, but hey 🤷‍♂️ Recored with my trusty Yamaha BB1024 with Elixir strings.

  5. She went 😥 what a sad affair. I tried the wide strap which did help a little, but not enough for me. I still couldn't face drilling the holes for Ultralite tuners! I hastily bought a 434 which is great value as others have said, not at all comparable to the BBP34 of course. I put some Dr Fat-Beams on, I'll see what it's like when they settle in. Perhaps you or others can advise. Is the 734/5a really the same build quality as the 434/5? I've seen some 734a reported as 4Kg, which would be good with some Ultralites on. The BB1024 is a step up. I wouldn't hesistate on another MIJ yam, as long as it was sub 4Kg. I'm interested to see if there is something suitable from the previous series from previous decades! I have the bug now. Oh and thanks! Much appreciated.
  6. £40 delivered. I bought these a while back but they were the wrong diameter. Completely unused.
  7. It was a pleasure dealing with Jason. As others have said, an easy going transaction. Cheers
  8. As part of the many tracks we've recorded with our lockdown project. The bass track was recorded on a Yamaha BBP34 with Dr Lo-Rider nickel strings. I tried to give enough room frequency wise for the guitar tracks. (Apologies for the image 😛 )
  9. Nice! Got to be done with a blue Precision and maple fretboard I'm working on a few Maiden tracks at the moment, I'll see if I can get any consistent as this. I've always found the intro so elusive on The Trooper.
  10. Just made a purchase from Gerry. Very easy and straightforward. He was very generous with throwing a few things in with the sale
  11. Apologies all. I'm afraid you've convinced me @Al Krow. I'm going to withdraw, (assuming that is allowed per Marketplace rules) and try your suggestions out. I'd love to hear a link of the P35 in action at any time.
  12. Doh! I just bought Springbreak III, I didn't see there was a B-Stock section, oh well, the price wasn't too bad.
  13. You've definitely given me food for thought, along with lighter tuners! I've currently got a 9cm strap, but you've inspired me to order a 11cm wide strap, albeit non-leather
  14. Yes we do! I did the maths, which I think is correct: One original tuner is 77g (308g total) Clover Ultralite is 54g (216g total) 308-216 = 92g saving I have seen the Y key Ultralite's listed as 44g (176g x 4): 308 -176 = 132g saving
  15. I was concious of the weight being reported as a different value to Richard's post, so I re-weighed on my kitchen scales, and it came out the same as 4.3Kg/9.47lbs.
  16. Yes I agree, the same experience, it is a shame about the weight! I think if I sat down to practice and didn't intend to use it live, then I would be keen on keeping it. I don't think it's really a heavy one at 4.3Kg/9.47lbs, I think this is absolutely fine for many people. My BB1024 comes in at 3.9Kg/8.59lbs (with Ultralites) and it makes all the difference to me. That's good advice, I was thinking the same about the holes not being visible with the original tuners. My logic is that, as the BB1024 must have been around 4.0 Kg before Ultralites (and too heavy for me), then BBP34 + Ultralites won't get it low enough (I'm assuming around 0.1Kg saving).
  17. A great comparison! Related to your post @claustra, I've been trying to find a replacement switch for my BB1024 this morning. I'm guess giving it a spray with some electrical spray will help, but are there any recommendations for a more robust switch? Cheers
  18. Hey all, You may have noticed my BBP34 for sale on the marketplace: I strongly considered installing some Hipshot Ultralites, but couldn't bring myself to drill the holes. It doesn't feel right to modify a bass of this quality; to change the brushed-nickel hardware, especially as it balances so well how it is. I'm hoping I can find another BB from the new series and that it will still compare well. My trusty BB1024 really is not going anywhere! Of course if anyone has a lighter BBP34 to trade ... maybe they prefer the Blue to the Sunburst It seems very unlikely though!
  19. Aforementioned gig bag, pictured below. I'm open to offers on this, I found it difficult to find the going rate!
  20. Hi ebenezer, you certainly can. With my digital bathroom scales I found it to be 4.3Kg/9.47lbs Cheers
  21. In very good condition, plays well. I find the pickups a little hot, in a good way. I prefer P/PJ basses so this doesn't get that much play, mostly sitting pretty on the wall hanger. Comes with a Fender Deluxe gig bag which the shop very kindly gave me, even though it should have been for a Mexican Fender (Wunjo, Denmark Street I believe). The bag is generally in a good condition. Will courier at buyer's expense. Body Body Material: Soft Maple Body Finish: Polyurethane Body Shape: Jazz Bass Neck Neck Material: Maple Neck Finish: Vintage Tint Gloss Neck Shape: "C" Shape Scale Length: 34" (864 mm) Fingerboard: Maple Fingerboard Radius: 9.5" (241 mm) Number of Frets: 20 Fret Size: Medium Jumbo String Nut: Synthetic Bone Nut Width: 1.5" (38.1 mm) Position Inlays: Block
  22. Yamaha BBP34 in Midnight Blue (Pro Series made in Japan) with custom black scratchplate. Comes with robust hard case and original scratchplate. Original pack of tools are included. Will courier at buyer's expense. I'm very relunctantly selling this. It's by far the best premium bass that I've owned. It feels very solid and well put together, and sounds great. I'm really keen on the neck. It's also really well balanced. The problem for me, is that its just a little heavy for my slight frame and shoulder/back issues. I'm open to lighter PJ basses as a trade. I'm particularly looking for a Yamaha BB434 or light BB734a. The action is set medium-low and has DR Lo-Rider Nickel strings. Images below. Here's a link to Richard's post who was the previous owner, with more images and information:
