Thanks Bubinga5 I agree. My Celinder 5 had the best neck I've ever player on a 5 string, and this particular 5502 struck a chord. Action is so low it gets that 'zing' with no problems. Really versatile too, I used that MM pup on one song on a recent tour and it really growled in the mix although it's not my thing solo'd. I'll withdraw if my new bass doesn't come up to the high standard this and previous basses have set. Thanks for the feedback, good to know I'm not alone!

Up for sale my fantastic Lakland Skyline 55-02 5 string. I bought this bass as a limp-along whilst I sold my old Celinder 5er and looked for another 5 string when the time was right (I was playing mainly 4 string at the time). I stumbled across this and it allowed me to free up some equity, now it's time to move it on. This is simply the best 5 string I've ever owned, it's just not quite my sound, but it's been a joy to own and dead reliable. The previous owner played it a lot (probably why it's so nice), so the neck has some staining which should clean up. However, it's in great condition, and free from any issues. Fretwork is great, neck is great, action is slammed and plays perfectly. String to string balance is sublime, the notes are still really full up top, B and E string are taught and resonant. It has the Lakland Pre and pickups, with mid freq selector switches and a master gain inside the cavity, push/pull active/passive, 3 band EQ, Master Vol, Pickup Pan. The switch is for the MM pup and lets you choose humbucker, rear or front magnets. I always used it as a 70's style Jazz, with the rear single magnet, and it really does this well. The neck pickup really sounds like a P bass too. Year: 2008 Manufactured: Korea Body: Ash 3TS Neck: Maple Fingerboard: Maple String spacing: 19mm Nut width: 44mm Preamp: Lakland 3 band, 9v Pups: Lakland Weight: 10.4lbs Other: Dunlop strap buttons, strung with D'Addario Nickel 45-125 Happy to supply a basic gig bag if needed. Ideally sell without posting but open to discussion if essential. I travel so I'm sure we could work something out for any UK buyers. I'm NOT interested in trades, sorry. If you have any questions or anything I've missed, please just ask. Thanks!

Nice - I've owned a few Celinder 5's. Looks like a beauty, unusual to have the face of the fingerboard unadorned (assume because it started life as a fretless). If you were closer I'd check out this bass, it's rarer to see these in this format (Assume Alder body, Rosewood Board and 60's spacing), but I live on my trusty jazz bass again these days so probably for the best. Defo worth checking out if you're in the market for a great 5 string. Best of luck with the sale!

Atelier Z basses - where to buy in the UK?
fingerz replied to Gunsfreddy2003's topic in Bass Guitars
How are you players getting on with these basses over time? Do you find the 5 strings to retain the tone we all hear and love often on the four strings, and what are the necks like compared to say Celinder, or other builders who nail that 70's vibe ? -

I always have 45-125 as it makes perfect sense if everything is working as it should, and I love to have the exact same step up between strings so as everything's consistent. i.e. if I play an F on the B string I want the same difference in tone as I would playing a Bb on the E string rather than 1st fret on the A string etc.. BUT... You WILL notice a difference, so if that's what you're used to and that's what works, then stick with it. If you find your B too overpowering then try a lower gauge B string. Elixir is not a brand I use so not sure on their tension. If it ain't broke don't fix it, and after 7 years, a fresh set of what you're used to will feel completely different I'm sure! You'll probably hate it for a month! Ha! All the best, PM me if you'd like any more geekery!
Great cab....series 1 were fitted with B&C drivers, the later series 2 fitted with eminence deltalites.....both great cabs!
That's right, I owned a series 2, it was loud and light and similar in tone, but I always felt these series one's were superior to my ear. Hence I tracked this one down. Thanks for the cab-compliment !

Up for sale, my lovely Epi UL410 cabinet. This is a series one cab, which do sound different to the later releases which use different speakers, these are becoming quite rare. I bought it as a slightly bigger version of my UL310 series one (yes I'm a huge fan of these cabs!), for the odd occasion, but I use the 310 so much I think it's best to sell this and get something with a different flavour all together. This is the 4 Ohm version, in great condition. All in perfect working order, sounds great and rated 1000W at a weight of 59lbs I do believe. The product code reads T-UL410, which to my knowledge is the same as the series 1 410, with the B and C drivers. I do travel a bit, but collection is preferred from Stroud in Gloucestershire. Do feel free to open up a chat about meeting or delivery, I'm more than happy to work something out if possible. Thanks for looking.
Some sound clips would be nice!
Hi Kiwi, Sure, on request I can surely have a dig and sort some sound samples - some things are not strictly for public use hence my treading carefully. Serious buyers feel free to get in touch, or come round and see how YOU make it sound!
