    E string.

Some P's have quiet E strings and you can compensate with how the pickup is constructed to raise or lower it in relation to and specific string. What's interesting about your situation is you mention it is in one area and on one string. I would suggest you have some sort of curve going on in that area of the frets/neck which is choking your E string at that point. You should take it to a real good luthier/tech if this may be the case. It might be you need to have some fret work done to give the bass side of the neck the curve your strings need to vibrate. Make sure they are good tho. I ALLWAYS use the gallery in London, as unlike a lot of techs, they really know their stuff. Like I say, if you change strings and it's still there, I would suggest that's your problem. Any other scenario, wouldn't present you with such a unique problem. Cheers, and good luck!
  12. Hi Paul, So, I've been pretty busy and the schedule has made it tough to get round to this.. I'm touring it on a show at the mo, I tried to get the old switch out but getting the solder off is a nightmare. I've swapped pcb mounted things numerous times before - but this is a real challenge. Do you have any tips? I'm using a solder sucker. I borrowed one of the crews soldering irons, maybe it's just not hot enough for the solid lead stuff these manufacturers like to use? Any tips appreciated! Cheers, Jo

  16. Thanks for the info. Neck radius is something only a professional could measure I think, how you describe it makes perfect sense to me though! Nice one, thanks for getting back to me, I can PM you an email address if it's easier for sound samples. No rush, busy all day will get back to you soon.
  17. Hello, are you able to provide any sound samples of this bass? Do you know the string spacing and neck radius? Thank you
  18. I have an EBS octabass, it's a very sweet sounding, clean octave pedal. I use it on thriller live on tour (clang!), and it's warm and musical. I've borrowed other octaves and currently have an OC-3 on loan for other gigs - I find that pedal very aggressive and slightly 'narrow' in it's tone. I wasn't a huge fan of the EBS when I got it, but the more Octavers I use the more I realise what a nice warm musical octave it gives, especially for RnB, Soul, neo soul type sounds. Worth checking out. Aguilar one is quite sweet but for me/my bass it didn't track with great authority.. Worth trying a bunch if you can, and check out that EBS, I really like it.
  19. This really is an awesome Fender Jazz. Bass gear quoted a very well known pro who has one just like this except original dot and bound 66 as saying 'this was waaay to close to his original 66'. (Bump)
  20. Thanks Paubass. Well, all jazzes sound slightly different so maybe you could justify a second one ; )

  24. This bass is back up for sale. I got messed around by a member on here and has been on hold for a few weeks possibly going to France. My CS is back up for sale, and I will get alternative images on Photobucket as soon as it lets me upload (very dodgy at the moment!). Cheers.
  25. This stunning Jazz is currently on hold pending the usual.. Thanks for all the interest, should be a done deal by the end of the month..
