1. Buy it from him, I mean how could you not? sounds to me like this is the bass that your hands were made for, so passing this up would be criminal, it could be a cure to all your GAS and you may never feel the need to buy another bass again, just do us all a favour and get a nice black or white refin on it!
2. I very nearly bought this myself, Im not too sure about the bridge actually touching the bridge pickup, do you think this could affect the sound in anyway? The bridge also looks slightly offset on one side, at it appears to touch the pickup on one side but not the other
3. check this out http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-Traben-Chaos-Cor...id=p3286.c0.m14
4. Just thought I'd throw my 2 cents in here, I sold my red double buck in good nick for about 500 quid so I'd look at aiming for something around there, but, other than the general classic look and feel of a p bass your double buck can pretty much do any bass sound, including a p bass, the double buck was the most versatile bass I had out of all of them and dialing a jazz sound or a precision sound was easy what with the coil tap on each humbucker. But if you decide to sell best of luck with it, they are nice basses anyone who buys wont be dissapointed im sure.
5. I regret selling my usa s1 jazz black on maple, slickest playing jazz I ever had, true regret letting that one go, I regret letting my corvette standard go aswell, out of all the basses I played live she got the most compliments on her live sound, I also regret letting go of my spector rebop, best playing neck on any bass, ever.
6.
I bought this new in 1998. Used it for several years and it picked up a few knocks and dents along the way. I have basses for using not for show. Took it to Austin, Texas to make an album so it's flown in the cargo hold long hail. Had the nut replaced with a brass nut for extra zing. I tried various pick-ups in it but when sold it was back to standard. I thought the £600 I sold it for was very fair considering the condition and what I paid for it new. Oh and I sold it because I had completed and was very happy with the Status necked SR5 and couldn't justify having two of them. Here we are at Bognor Live 2002. It's a good one, go for it.
I was in Austin about 3 months ago, loved it!
7.
Can't believe I misspelled desperate. Maybe I was a bit disappointed after all :-) - especially as it was a local seller.
If for whatever reason I dont get on with it Stevie I'll give you first dibs
8. Ok ok so its not a real stingray but it is an olp copy with a musicman sterling pup already installed, scooped it for 90 quid, sterling sound, stingray looks, a 10th of the price...nice! will give a review and more pics when I get it (hopefully by friday) out of interest was I bidding against anyone here? I think I got it at such a good price because the seller didnt say in the title it had a sterling pup fitted, only when you read the item description did it say, so Im thinking a lot of people skipped past it thinking it was just a standard olp ray?
9. What a pointless thread to start, nothing wrong with the current for sale system, I hardly think somebody paying a quid or two to post up a high end bass for sale is going to stop the seller from pulling it should they change their mind, I mean come on did you really think it would? I think waynepunkdude said it best, if you dont like it I suggest you go elsewhere
10. I had a Bubinga Corvette and it looked almost identical to the grain on this, so I think it is a bubinga corvette personally, yours looks particularly nice, have a bump on me
11. Hello Ladies and Gents, I spotted these on the bay, they certainly look nice, if I didnt know any better I'd say they looked like a bass that would cost much more than 200 quid, but anyone had any experience with them in terms of sound or playability? Heres a link to one on the bay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Alden-Jupiter-Bass-S...1QQcmdZViewItem
I'll do the basslines books for a fiver each (they cost between 12 and 15 quid new) the dvd for a fiver (I think it was about 12 quid new), and the book with the cd for a tenner (it was 17 quid new)

17. haha i prob should of said a replacement neck i.e allparts etc.., just dont want to get something and then find it doesnt fit!
18. Hello all, Ive decided I want to put a vintage style p bass neck with block inlays on my recently acquired kay bass body, ive decided to really pimp it up with new pups new bridge etc. Now, my question is, will a fender replacement neck fit it? I dont know much about fender necks and fittings, I tried to fit my hondo p bass neck to the kay body to see if it would fit and it doesnt, what are peoples opinions regarding this? Cheers,
19. Hello ladies and gentlemen, I thought I'd post a couple of pics of my Hondo Fame Deluxe series P Bass, I scored this a while a go for the bargain price of 50 quid. When I first plugged it in I got lots of feedback and hum through the amp, turned out it was the wire under the bridge, i.e not enough wire touching the bridge to earth it hence the loud feedback. Black on maple with matching headstock, the bridge on this thing is very big and chunky, top quality and as good as any badass or schaller. The sound is loud and punchy, I had a fender USA standard p bass and I can dial in as much or as little tone on this as I could on the American. This is my number one bass at the moment, needs a new nut though which I'll get done in due time. Not sure of the year of this bass or where it was made. I have a feeling its Korean, and probbably made in the early 1980's though I am yet to look into this, anyways here she is!
20.
I've had two of these - been quite impressed with the pickup on both. very authentic & pretty powerful. You'll probably have to shim the neck to get a decent string height - you may find that as well as the massive 6-screw neckplate, there's glue holding it in too - so be prepared for a bit of a scrap getting it off. Don't worry, though, you won't break it! These are the most solid basses I've ever seen, they are massively heavy, and the neck's a weird sort of ply known to vintage guitar geeks as "strip mahogany" - about 90 layers of wood... I'd also recommend a proper bridge - these are fitted with crude 2-saddle things, more agricultural folk-art than hardware! Even if you can get decent action & intonation with it, there are 4 evil, sharp, ragged overlong screws, waiting to take a chunk out of your right hand... Not sure these are technically JapCrap - neither of mine had any country of origin - but one of these was on Ebay a while back described as made in Taiwan - seems it had a sticker. Anyway - you won't find a more robust vintage P copy for £45! Jon.
Hello John, Im quite pleased its met with your approval because I wondered if it would do so or whether it would be shot down in flames by our resident jap crap expert! I think I'll take your advice and replace that bridge when I get it, the thought did cross my mind when I put a bid on it. The seller told me that the action is nice and low on the bass already (I'll find out if thats true today as it should be arriving). More pics and review coming soon.
21. Hello Ladies and gentlemen, been a while since I posted anything so I thought what better than to post some pics of my recent ebay acquisition, a kay precision bass, although I am yet to recieve it (hopefully I'll have it by thurs or fri). I got it for the price of 45 quid plus 11 quid postage. I hear these basses are known to be on the heavy side and I'm curious to know what the stock pickup sounds like, if its decent I'll keep it in there, if not I'll opt for something else to put in. Bridge looks original, not too sure about the tone and volume knob, never seen these ones on a kay bass before. The neck was what did it for me really and a nice bit of genuine mojo wear to the body. Out of interest did anyone else spot this or place a bid on it?
22. Shouldnt be a problem fitting this to an OLP ray copy because the pickup route is a big cavernous hole.
