1. You can find this if you youtube it, I did bring it up in an old post maybe a year or so a go
2. Yeah they were the American standard series for sure, the sunburst jazz looked particularly nice, I am in the market for a new bass but not until I've been to the USA this month, if I wasnt going I would have been all over the sunburst jazz
3. Hello all, I was in soundcontrol in Oxford street today and was having a look around and noticed how the stock of basses there has really depleted, but upon looking at some the small stock they did have, there was a USA S1 switch jazz, sunburst with a maple board, a black USA fender jazz with S1 switch again with a maple board and a USA precision, a dolphin grey also with a maple board and they were on sale at £699 each, not a bad price for a USA fender from soundcontrol is it? Unfortunately I didnt have the time to sit and play any of them but I thought I'd post a heads up incase anyone was after a USA fender at a good price
4. The chrome finish on these begins to ripple after a while and can start to look a bit untidy, Sam Rivers from Limp Bizkit plays a well used five string version.
5. My advice is wait until that precision is in your hands and you've had a chance to see what tone you can get from it before selling such a nice looking jazz
6. Well, I dont ever think you can cure yourself of gas. Say you gas for a jazz, and you get that jazz, and you think "great, now I'll get a precision I really dont need to match my jazz" and then you get that precision, and then you find yourself playing the precision more and you think "I'll sell that jazz and get something active and modern to contrast my precision" so you get that modern active bass, then you think to yourself, "I know I'll sell my precision and get something 5 string active to go with my active 4 string" and then after a while you decide your playing five strings and you sell that four string in favour for a second five string and one day whilst playing on one of your fives you say to yourself "You know I really miss the simplicity of a passive 4 string jazz bass" and thus it continues, and it gets worse when you see a bass player who really inspires you when he or she is playing something you are yet to own or play. Once you've got gas its not going anywhere, unless you manage to guilt yourself into not buying anything else, but then that only usually lasts for a short while
7. The new BTB's look great, nice to see they lost the nasty satin silver hardware in favour of some decent looking burnt chrome
8. This is blasphemy! Madness! remove it at once!
9. Interested to see how the modded scratchplate looks
10. Well, If I were you I'd go for a USA fender jazz bass, simple tone controls, a simple versatile no frills passive bass with a good classic fender tone, cant go wrong, just find one that feels and plays good because in addition to the nice playing ones there are a few lemons knocking around so try before you buy with fender. Could always go down the P-Bass route, nice big fat tone, not a great slap sound but a nice big punchy tone that cuts through bands quite well.
11. To be honest I dont think he's traying to palm it off as a yamaha, just sounds to me as though he's not very clued up on basses and at some point he's got it into his head that yamaha make shine basses, or perhaps he thinks the word shine is the name of the model not the brand. His price isnt taking the piss or anything, just sounds like a confused fella, not sure whats with all the caps though
12. Also here http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=11428
13. totally pointless imo, bet it plays like a dogs dinner
14. Sorry to hear you've been stung on the basschat forum, If you are unhappy with the bass then dont try and convince yourself to keep it, my advice to you is this, give it a good clean, a good set up and put it back up for sale on here, ebay, gumtree etc with decent pictures and just accept what you feel is a fair offer, cut your losses and move on to something else. I think it will put your mind at ease.
15. Well its down to personal choice, if you feel the streamer is the way to go and your not comfortable with the sub then I say make the exchange, however I would say that the sub is probbably worth a little bit more than the streamer standard.
16. Personally I think the blokes a chancer, he's span you that excuse as to why he's selling it for so much, he's sitting there hoping someone will buy it at a stupidly high price.
17. All Pm's replied to, will do this for £40 inc p&p, Im not sure if the marks are a result of trying to relic it, I think its just a poor job at trying to strip it.
18. Hello Ladies and Gents, ok what I have here is a fender highway jazz bass body in poor shape that I accquired off of a bloke quite a long time ago, a few years, with the intention of fixing up but its sat under my bed gathering dust, so I thought I might move it on before my upcoming holiday. As I said its a highway one body, alder, probbably a year 2000 one. It was oiginally a sunburst color, but was then resprayed black by sims custom shop at some point. Now the ugly bit, at some point its been hacked at, looks like its been sanded then chiseled in some places, real poor job, but with a good deep sanding from a belt sander it can be restored to a nice even surface ready to be resprayed, this was my intention when I bought it but I just wont get around to doing it. It will turn out to be a nice bit of wood and would make a great body once its all sanded and refinished, its just whether you have the time to do it. On the plus side the pickup routes are the nice tight ones not the great cavernous holes you now find on some USA standards. Anyways here are some pics, would anyone like to make an offer? I can post to anywhere, will be boxed and bubblewrapped or you can come and pick it up I live in Morden in Surrey. Ideally a cheque or cash would be preffered for payment. 19. To be fair I think what he does actually looks pretty good, it looks better than some of the fender custom shop stuff I've seen.
20. I think this is a decent price for this bass, Get it proffesionaly stripped and refinished and you've got the sound and playability of a vintage fender with a nice new coat of paint, I know people will say its a refin but at the end of the day its still a vintage fender, refin or not.
21.
Sorry the only Warwick I like is the Jack Bruce Cream Reunion Bass And although it's a great sounding and playing bass (at least the fretless version I've tried is) it's not worth anything like the £4K asking price.
Almost like warwicks answer to a wal bass
22. This guy has such a junky collection of stock, I think most of his stock is comprised of basses that are 50% unoriginal
23. Nice find in your loft! Maybe I should check mine, I would of been well pleased! Nice example too!
24. Thats the nicest looking flea bass Ive seen, dont do it!
