1.
Why doesn't someone from this forum just drop him a line saying that you missed out on bidding on the item and haven't seen any feedback relating to it and ask if the deal fell through. Also say you thought it went a bit cheaply - you were looking for a MM5 Sun and would be happy to pay £450 odd. He then admits he still has bass for sale, offers to sort something out and you e-mail evidence to ebay and get his arse banned.
Ive messaged him will be interesting to know what he says
2.
Think I'd be put off by the $90 postage to the UK, and by the customs charge it'll attract if it goes over £18. Also, it's not Japanese, I don't think. I've seen a few guitars & basses with this maple board/mahogany neck/pointy black trc combination (I actually had a thinline Tele copy like this) and they're not-very-good Korean knockoffs. I'd bet a kidney the body's plywood under the solid-black-at-the-edges sunburst, too. Sorry to pee on your fireworks, Kev, but there are loads of better vintage P copies than this around. Jon.
No fair play each to their own opinion I say. I still reckon its worth a punt for a p bass project though. I saw that columbus precision on the bay, I wonder what the reserve has been priced at?
3. Anyone wants to start a project p bass with a bit of a vintage vibe should nab this looks in good shape http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Cobra-Japan-Lawsuit-...VQQcmdZViewItem
4.
Or just your vocals ...
haha
5. Billy Sheehan : Do you find the extreme tightness of your trousers affects the way you play
6. I have to make a conscious effort to avoid music shops, because Im saving like mad for my trip to the americas come feb and as such im not in a band because of it, I will be tempted to buy a bass that will just sit in my house whilst im off around the usa, and I figured I'd pick up a half price thumb or ray whilst im out there, haha the same thing goes for ebay aswell! so for me denmark street is a no go zome right now, even if I walk past my local music shop which is the typical "we stock high end guitars but only have cheap generic stagg or encore basses" Im tempted to buy strings or something!
7. probbably a jap copy from the 70's? maybe a columbus or maya
8. Haha, well I think this guy is just doing his best to blag a sale on something he obviously knows not alot about, haha excellent listing,
9.
I'vde almost ordered one of those several times. Love the look of it - If you go to the Fender.fr website and look under the videos tab, there's a French guy called Ludo playing one in a video. Sounds a lovely bass. Still tempted, but never seen one in the UK yet or had the chance to try one
I tried one in denmark street, it looked the business and I plugged in, sound was full and warm but playabilty wasnt all that great, strings felt really tight and the action was high, prob with a good set up it might have improved, but on the basis of playability i didnt buy it and ended up with something else
10. The guy raises a good point about the strength of the pound to the dollar right now, even with postage this to me seems like a sweet little deal considering the condition its in http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Early-Peavey-USA-T-2...1QQcmdZViewItem
11. Mate if I had the cash to hand I'd have this back this is one I regret letting go, top bass, recommend it to anyone you wont be dissapointed
12. Christ! £750? are you sure you want to sell it for that price? bargain of the year if you ask me, someone here has got to take this surely?
13. As I no longer own a bass of the forementioned brand, up for grabs is the owners manual that I just found tucked away in a draw, in good nick, looks like it got slightly damp at some point but no ink has smudged just the paper has gone a tiny bit crinkly, still well readable, if anyone wants it pm me your address and I'll mail it out to you Kev
14. Very cowboy! would look good in a country and western band
15. Hello all, was tempted by this myself, but have my eye on other things, might be worth a look, seems like quite a nice example to me http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/bass-guitar-1970s-ba...tem200157098984
16. I've noticed on Kerrang that its a bit of a warwick and Ibanez fest when it comes to basses, plenty of ibanez guitars too, and if its an emo punk type band its usually a fender p. When I went to the download festival a couple of years ago it was almost guaranteed that the bassist would be up there with a warwick or an ibanez, I saw a few p basses but mainly warwicks, probbably because of the brightness and punch you need to cut through a heavy guitar.
17. I thought I might add that I think the body has been routed to fit those big humbuckers on there, I have a feeling this thumb bass is the broad neck version that has bartolini soapbar pups as stock, its probbably been slightly modded to fit the slightly larger emg soapbar pickups, the bridge pup to me looks like its almost, if not, touching the bridge, Im not sure how this might affect the tone if it is touching. Before you buy thi ask if it is the broadneck version because if you have small hands you might find it a bit uncomfortable to play.
18. Well, warwick will fit MEC's, EMG's or Bartolini's or Seymour Duncans on their stuff, back in the eighties they were stocked with EMG's as opposed to today where the stock pups are MEC, but you can get any of the above pickups fitted if you order straight from warwick. I think with the EMG's you'd get a more dry sound and a bit more low end thump as opposed to the brightness that MEC's put out, no doubt it would still have the signature "warwick thumb growl" and would sound as good as the MEC's it would just be slightly different.
19. I'm supprised the bass centre is still in business
20. To be honest I'm not really clued up when it comes to the value of fenders from different eras, all I know is generally the 60's 70's USA ones are expensive. Now this guy may be justified in selling this fretless jazz at this price, but I thought it was rather alot for a japanese fender, what are the opinions of those fender heads amongst us? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Genuine-Fender-Fretl...1QQcmdZViewItem
21. Hello all, I wasnt sure if I should of posted this in the ebay links section due to the fact Im not trying to point out a scam or a bargain, however it is an ebay link. But my point is how gorgeous do these new squire p bass re-issues look, Im really tempted to get my hands on one of these beastys and see what they are like http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fender-Squier-Vintag...1QQcmdZViewItem
22. to me it looks like an ibanez sr705 I used to own one a few years back, nice bass, have bump
23. Ive seen this vintage stingray on ebay about 6 times now, all under a seller with 0 feedback, all with the exact same auction layout and description, many of you may recognise it http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Mint-Vintage-Fender-...1QQcmdZViewItem
24.
8 people have actually bid for it, the thought of that thing selling for any higher than it is now just makes me cringe!
This is what made me wonder whether it was just a poorly maintained or butchered early status, theres one guy who seems pretty keen on it if u read the questions from buyers
