1. Go for an older Status SII or a new S2-Classic & you're in another ballpark altogether. As for the SmartBass, they're pretty good, but it depends on how much you're willing to spend on options. You're better off going just a little higher in price and getting a bolt-on S2-Classic. Once you've played one of these, you'll never look at a MM again! Rich.

I always regretted selling my original 1987 Status SII, so I was relieved to find my pristine 1990 model. But the one I'd never sell is my no.1 bass. It's a late 2007 S2-Classic in walnut/mahogany with the walnut tone block & it's tone, growl & sheer power literally blows the socks off every other bass I've ever played. This bass is my sound & it's going nowhere!
3. Bought this cab last night with the combo shown in the picture. Excellent cabinet & only a few months old. Only thing is that I need a 2x10 with hf horn to go with this combo. So if anyone's looking to offload a 2x10 & wants a nice 1x15, give me a shout. Otherwise, price collected is £90.
4. Here's a couple of pics of a well looked after Groove 5 I picked up last week, thanks to BCBass in London.
5. Just been to sunny *HA!* Manchester to pick up an Ashdown rig from jazzbassmm, aka. Antonio. Excellent guy who's put up with me changing appointment days due to my 'time poverty!' Many thanks for some serious gear at an amazing price, Antonio! Best of luck in your forthcoming travels, too! Rich.
6. It's a pity I didn't like the colour of this instrument, because I played it at Barrie's house last weekend & it's a scorching bass. Everything they say about these is true. It's how you always wanted a jazz to feel, sound & respond, but Fender could never manage to make for you! Best of luck with the sale, mate! Rich.
7. Glad you ended up hooked, Jay. Can't wait to see what you end up with! Very pleased with my lot at the moment, especially the Streamline. Hugely impressed with that one! Rich.
8. +1 on the Yamaha BB614 & also the Ibanez suggestion of the Ferret. The SR300 has some serious punch for the money.
9. That's a seriously cool piece of kit! Reminds me I'll have to do some new pics at some point of my Warwick Triumph Rich.
10. Jay's price isn't a million miles out. They would have been about £800-£1000 new originally, perhaps more with the Graphite neck. Most of the Energy models you see around have the wooden neck with the internal graphite rods, so this one is a rarity. I had an Energy Artist 5 with a retro-fitted graphite neck which I sold for £550 a year ago, so this is pretty reasonable. Plus it's in lovely condition, too. Rich.
11. Quite true. You don't see her best playing on the Ronnie Scotts recordings. Her solo at the Crossroads festival with Beck literally stole the show & her solo album, transformations, is very, very good. Rich.
12. That's prototype KingBass Mk-II no.3 isn't it, Nick? That one's gone now. Rob was telling me the other week! Hey Chris, I live directly east of you. It's a day's travelling, for sure, but only about 200 miles. I usually go down in the am & get there about lunchtime. No problems The factory is well worth a visit.
13. Lovely collection you have there! Never really seen these over here in the UK.
14. Hi Mike Good to hear from you. Still alive & kicking, I see - And playing lots too, I hope! Rich.
15. I've played the stock one with the white pearloid pickguard a couple of times. It's an amazing bass. Very different to play, but ultra fast & a fantastic sound. Give Dawn a call & book a visit. You'll end up ordering something for sure! Rich.
16. Glad this one went to a good home. As already mentioned, Mike is a top guy & a professional player. I bought my TRB from him a while back.
17. Many have already done it. Fender announced a 20% rise across the board for 2009 already.
18. Not for me, but come on all you 16.5mm Mark King wannabes!
19. Make sure you never leave a venue without a case for it - You'll almost certainly be shot dead by the police before they even bother asking you any questions, LOL!
20. Just out of interest, where is the current new Mustang produced? (The one on the Fender UK website.)
21. I was just thinking that I'd like to see something like a far-east made Squier Classic Vibe jazz (excellent quality!) with all the nice American series Fender bits on it. That would be an amazing bass!
22. Columbus bass (sort of black Charvel/Jackson copy) bought from Foulds in Derby. Cost in 1986 £175 In 2009 £364
23. I've always liked BB's, but as the others have said, that one looks great!
24. Nice idea & a very different way of selling your instrument. Do you work in marketing or something? Count me in
