1. I don't know anything on which delay to get, but as I said, I've got the Digitech JamMan. Expensive, but absolutely awesome. I use it live for a looped solo & it's amazing. Hold's the audience's attention!
2. I'm not a tech guy by any means, but as far as I know the looper records things digitally & can overlay an infinite number of tracks on top of the loop. Mine can actually transfer the recordings to a pc as well. Have a look at some of the Victor Wooten solos on YouTube. He uses his JamMan live on gigs. A digital delay just replays what you just played and invariably turns it into a veritable mess if you turn the effect up too high. Rich.
3. Is that the gig they did last year, Ferret? I've watched some of the numbers from that one & it looked like an amazing gig, especially the Imogen Heap number. Yes, Tal does still look very young, but how good is she going to be when she's completed her "apprenticeship" with the likes of Jeff Beck, Chick Corea, etc? Scary stuff. She's an amazing player as it is. Footnote: It's nice to talk about some great bass playing, which I believe is what we come here for, as opposed to blithering on about some irrelevant story about Prince Harry!
4. £820??? Wow! Someone grab this lovely instrument quick, before Mick comes to his senses Rich.
5. I like the plastic one better! Nah, that ACG is stunning - Congrats!
6. It's a tough one. We all like shiny new things & we seem to have more disposable income to do it these days, especially those of us who work seven day weeks, etc. Yes, I like to try new things, but I have my preset tastes & I know which instruments I'll play & what will actually earn me some money. Also, I'm usually very good with making sure that I get rid of anything that's not earning it's keep. *Suddenly falls on his own GAS-forged sword!*
7. In terms of Fenders, the USA ones may be made by similar people, but the parts are much better quality. You get all the nice bits on a MIA. As for the Eastern contingent, especially that Malasian(?) Cort factory that builds the Squiers & Laklands - Well, there's nothing wrong with the QC of stuff coming out of there, is there? The same as the car industry, you'll struggle to find something badly made these days. They're all pretty good. It is the 21st century, after all. Rich.
8. Okay, further from my previous post on this thread, the Streamline got me. I kind of liked it from when it came out, sorta liked it when I tried one at the factory but not enough to order one. When this one came up used and mint for considerably less than list, GAS got the better of me. And yes, it's a GAS hit. Absolutely amazing!
9. Nice bass, and as already said, amazing price!
10. Are they running the Lodestone basses operation from the same place, then?
11. If you have one of the modern S2-Classics, as opposed to an SII, S2 or Empathy, the ideal slap sound is with the mid toggle switch set to "flat" or in the middle of the three settings. Boost your treble & bass and there you go! Yes, the Stealth as Nick said is a little glassier, it's also got more of an older style "scooped" Status sound with the two band preamp. But don't let that put you off. I have a similar setup on my all-graphite Streamline & it sounds amazing! Rich.
12. Went down to Siberia, erm, London yesterday to pick up a Groove 5 from Bruno, aka. bcbass. Lovely guy, very hospitable & looked after me well! Lovely to meet & do business with you, Bruno
13. Nah, I know most of the bikers from the biker rallies, LOL! I'll just hire Rick Hulse as my bodyguard
14. Hey Barrie, if I had the money I'd have the Zon VB & the Infinity off you in a flash, but that S2 is a keeper as you can tell! You can prise it out of my cold, dead hands if you like, mate Rich.
15. There's a real ex-Entwistle Status one for sale on Statii.com. One of John's own basses. Owner wants in excess of $20,000!
16. LOL! Thanks for some good responses there! I'm not doing the deal, anyway. The other guy wanted my old 1990 Status SII but it's not for sale. So there! Rich.
17. Thanks, Nick. My thoughts exactly, plus I already told MP that I really didn't want to let #538 go, anyway. Would be a nice thing to have, but the cost would be too great at this time! Rich.
18. Just a query... I've been offered a Fender Mark King Signature Jazz (#02 of 42) with sims laser leds as a trade for one of my basses. What're these worth (especially in a depressed market?) Rich.
19. That Zender signature looks amazing!
20. Sadowsky outboard preamp pedal - Makes any jazz sound like a squillion dollars. Brilliant! Fender Platinum bass lead for zero signal degredation. Best £40 I ever spent!
21. I was playing a brand new "proper" Gibson one at Electro this morning - What a lovely bass. Awesome sound, comfortable to play. Just a pity about the horrendous neck dive as per usual! Rich.
22. Nah, the Bongo is a really cool looking bass for me. Funnily enough, I was in electro and played a new 3eq Ray and it was truly dull! I've only played one I loved the sound of and that was a brand new 2eq with a matching painted headstock in gloss black. It really sang! Still never played a Bongo, though.
23. Whoever mentioned Gary Moore's bass player - It's usually a guy called Andy Pile. Nice player as well.
24.
Photos please OtPJ! The I really want to try a Streamline at some point...
Hey BRX, photos are on page 24. They're Vern's, but very clear images of the bass. Totally unmarked
