1. Nice mate! Never saw a Reggie Hamilton signature up close before. Did you see my post re. your teacher query?
2. Good move, Kev. It's always a hard one to sell your main player! I'm sure something else will come along to compliment it, as opposed to replacing it Rich.
3.
Oh Mannnnn, I just love that SII - I've dreamt of owning one since I first started playing in the eighties. Steve
LOL! Everyone loves that bass If I had a tenner for every offer I'd had for it since buying it, I'd have a new car by now!
4.
Rich... Track 1 I love, Elaine loves and when can we expect an iTunes download? Track 2 Nice but I agree about the vocals...still the Trump sounds awesome....and yes it's slooo but still, it grew on me and I liked it. Track 3 Marc would be impressed and it's a very fresh approach, although I am not completely convinced about the guitar solo I agree although it was short and did add that different take on things so top marks for bravery I think. Track 1 though.....wow
Hi Nick & Elaine! Thanks for the review As soon as I have the proper engineered versions (in a couple of weeks) I'll forward you a copy. Just pm me your postal address, mate. Your Precision is still pristine & great to play, btw! Take care, you two! Rich.
5.
I do love recordings like this, in fact, could you recommend some more?! Its wonderful to have on whilst working! Cracking playing, That warwick sounds fantastic, actually quite jazzy (as in the bass) for an upright! Lovely.
Hi Ste, Thanks for listening! As for other recordings (things you can buy!) try some Diana Krall CD's. Lovely music, but I'd go for "A night in Paris" or "The girl in the other room." These are the nice smaller 4-piece band as opposed to the bigger outfits she uses with the yucky, cheesy string washes! Rich.
6. Very nice mate! Excellent bit of noodle-mongery there - Didn't sound at all contrived and very well recovered into the bass line at the end as well! Rich.
7. Thanks guys! Can't wait to hear the finished version

Hi!

Hi Vic, I'll send you a message about your Musima... Look out for it under the top right tab marked, "messages"
9. Looking at the waiting time, I think it's a JayDee
10. http://www.indabamusic.com/sessions/560956971/47151#tracks Hopefully the link will work, but I thought I'd put these bare unmixed recordings up so you good people could have a listen! Track 1 is a nice recording overall, quite pleased with this one. Played on my Warwick Triumph upright. Track 2 is shocking! Too slow, the female singer sounds too classic with too much vibrato! Again, played on my Triumph upright. Track 3 is nice apart from the shocking guitar solo with an 80's sound metalzone distortion sound! Played on my Yamaha TRB-6. Let me know what you think & I'll post the fully mixed versions when I get them! Rich.
11. My cocobolo Status SII has Chris Squire's signature inside the battery cover. The original owner was a big YES fan.
12. Glossed dark rosewood is about the darkest. Looks almost black in certain light. Some cocobolo finishes are quite dark as well. Here's RetroRon's new rosewood KingBass from Stati.com & my cocobolo SII... Rich.
13. Try changing the battery. Mine is as quiet as a mouse, apart from some obligatory hiss when the treble control is full up.
14. BB, try Paul Dunn. He's fully conversant in all the rock school stuff and has recently taken over from me at Ashfield School (now I'm exclusively teaching in North East Lincs) as the resident guitar/bass teacher. He also only lives around the corner from you in Top Valley. 07802 860542. In fact you probably know him as Paul from the Beer Monsters/The PHD. Rich.
15. Hi Mr.Cougar (close neighbour of yours, just up the road near Barton!) This is a lovely looking bass. I was thinking for a moment that I'd quite like it, then I suddenly realised that I'd need to spend another £400 on a Status neck for it, just for curiosity's sake! Best of luck with the sale & a free *BUMP* on me! Rich.
16. Hi Pete, I was worried for a minute you were selling the one I played at your place a few weeks ago! This black one is really a stunner, though! Best of luck with the sale, mate. If I had the money, etc.... Rich
17.
I must say, this new idea of having a drinks cabinet installed in the upper bout seems a great advance to me. No more faffing round with your drinks on the floor, just reach in and there it is. Just the right size for a large Scotch, to suit the sophisticated tastes of those who play Warwicks. When I eventually get a double bass, I shall have to see about having a similar modification done. That would provide considerably more scope for storage - could probably fit a small wine rack in, in fact.
LOL! Players would be well advised not to jump around on stage too much. Whiskey + electronics doesn't bear thinking about!
18. Thanks for that, Gareth - Sounds like another interesting avenue to look at
19. The Hellborg one is quite different & costs more than twice as much... Alien... Hellborg...
20. Fifths is easy, especially A D G C tuning, as so many instruments use it, ie. cello, viola, tenor banjo, etc... And the best part is that in 2nd poisition you get one semitone per finger, but make sure you do it on a shorter scale instrument. On a 34 or 35 you're going to do some serious tendon damage if you play one finger per fret in the lower reaches of the neck (anything below 7th position.)
21. No, I've it's just that I've spent all my money for the last few months on Status basses! I'll get one soon, methinks
22. Ah, the 'Doc strikes again! That is seriously lovely looking! When I get some time I'm planning to meet up with Nick & find out why his blue Vigier is "the one!" Rich.
23. If like me you lust after a Warwick Alien, I've found a guy on YouTube who has recorded his a lot. What a sound! Makes me more determined to get one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ArimWVbHOm4...feature=related
