I think the Highway One should be a pretty good buy (as long as you get it set up well.) For the money, a USA build & badass II with the graphite poled neck must be value. But I'd always go for the Japanese Fenders. I'm still astounded by my Geddy Lee Jazz. I've never been a committed Fender player but I'm rarely putting this one down!

Hi guys, just picked one of these up for a pupil today & couldn't believe the speed of the neck. Yes, it has amazingly low action and a maple jazz neck not unlike the 70's VMJ, but I'm amazingly impressed for under £200. I'll do a full review when I've heard it plugged in. Young Alice (the owner) is going to be thrilled with this!

Hi everyone, Here's the KingBass again... A new thread after the previous edited and mixed up one was deleted! Specs: 32 inch scale with bendwell, gold hardware, curly walnut facings, etc. Barely used so in amazing condition! Need £1500 (£400 saving on new order) to cover new order... Only interested in trades as such with other pristine Status basses or similar. Yes, it was definitely a lot weaker... Can't explain it, but my Warwick $$ is amazingly overpowered!

I had an SRX705 for a while with the through neck & the active humbuckers, etc. It was a lovely bass, but not a lot of output compared to my Status & Warwick basses.

+1 for the Corvette $$ - An amazing bass. Look through the stuff you really like on Thomann.de - I think they do the J24 on there within your price range, too.

Get a short scale instrument like an EB0 or a little Squier & send him to someone who teaches proper technique & reading. There's no substitute for a good technique to build upon and grow from My best string players have been the people who did some piano first. Seems to give an excellent grounding. Carrying on the piano lessons is a good idea, too. At least to about AB Grade 2.

Yes, they're just about the most powerful & noiseless humbuckers around. You don't often hear of folks swapping out hyperactives for something else! The bass will be heavy - They're built to last. I played my old SII pretty much exclusively for 16 years professionally & it was built like a tank! I see from the brochure link I left you that this one has the graphite rods in the neck. Not the graphite cloth wrapped nonsense Fender uses but proper graphite poles

A quick note to everyone - Mike's basses are all beautifully set up & he prefers to play older grottier gear live as a pro player. So all his "For Sale" gear is the really nice stuff! Excellent guy to deal with! Many thanks for a great TRB-6, Mike!
