1. Lovely to meet you today, Tom - Enjoy your lovely new bass! Tom came up from Essex and drove over 200 miles to pick up an instrument from me. Top man and BassChatter! - Highly recommended
 2. Non-identical twins, but definitely from the same parentage... Still have the S2-Classic, but the KingBass emigrated to Texas back in late 2008
 3. On most electric basses, you can get the db effect by playing over the end of the fingerboard and backing off the tone control. Add flatwounds for full effect.
 4. It's a pity they discontinued these - They were much nicer than the Jazz version. Best of luck with the sale, Nick.
 5.
Ha, one band I play with has 2 guitarists, I suggested having one song in each set where we only feature one guitar, meaning he'd drop out for one song! he went mad, cant even drop out for a bar, fortunately my other band has better dynamics or Id go mad "Just get any old bass" I agree anything would work, its how well you play etc, but as someone else said "trainspotting" is fun for some
I know exactly where you're coming from here - I played in a functions trio for many years & suddenly the singer/guitardist wanted to add his mate into the mix as a second guitar. It was horrible. Like trying to play against a wall of nonsense noise & I actually had to play less! Most of you who have played in trios will know that you have to play a lot more when there's only the one guitar. I'm all for the banning of "second" or "rhythm" guitardists.
 6.
Ah, ok, in that case someone else was very good - although I'm sure you were very good too.
Er, okay - Thanks, I think... Yes, there are two or three crews doing this tour until the end of the summer. Ours is the one with the Jeff Hooper band. Glad to hear Mrs.ET & her Mum enjoyed the show, though
 7.
PM coming
And replied...
 8. Looks all present and correct to me.
 9.
Rich, were you at the Brighton Centre on Saturday last with the Strictly show? If so, Mrs ET and her mother thought you were great.
Hey Dave, no our crew was at Nidd Hall near Harrogate for the Strictly tour this last weekend. We do five of the venues mainly.
I'm surprised that this is up for sale so quickly Rich Having owned active Fenders in the past I can't help wondering if you're not going to regret this. Here's me wishing I still used 4 strings
Hi Peter, yes the new Deluxe is very good, but I won't be disappointed if this one doesn't sell, as it is such a nice bass. Like I need to tell you! We'll see what happens, but as you know yourself, when you play a Status as your main bass, everything else is optional!
 10. If the new top horn shape on this mock-up is correct to what they'll actually produce, I think it'll be a really nice looking bass. Almost classic J with a slight modern twist
 11. Yes, it does show where the money goes with luthiers - That's why the more expensive stuff is so special to own and play. Yes, I'd like to see either this one or another one with either a Ray neck or a vintage radius P neck. That'd be interesting.
 12.
It must. Rich was raving about the 62P last week; as I am still. Anyway, it's a relief that I don't have to buy it because I've already got one. These basses are really fantastic - especially if you like vintage looks, feel, and tone.
Yes, the AV62 is a seriously lovely bass as you know, Dave But the new Deluxe just made exactly the sound I want & fitted my hands like a glove, basically. Not to mention the fact that I've been doing some consultancy work for the dealer in question & I'll get it at a lovely price as well
 13.
That Deluxe must have been something to give up the Holy Grail of Precision tone!
Hmmm... Yep. It was quite the ride, Gareth
 14. This bass is now **SOLD**, subject to the usual... Many thanks for all the interest. Rich. Okay, here goes the second one of the day... Fender American Vintage Precision, complete with all covers, DR FatBeam strings, original AV-series case & all case candy. It's been said by several of the Precision aficionados around here that it's the best Precision they've played. The Beedster said that his AV came seriously close in sound to his original '64. Nitro finish, gorgeous polished rosewood fingerboard, vintage reverse tuners. It's got the lot. £900 for quick sale. No trades. Rich 07545 471037
 15. That is stunning - Really nice work! You really ought to go into business building those and selling them, if only part time. How much would a commission come to, btw?
 16. Now **SOLD** - Thanks for all the interest, guys
 17.
you swine you OTPJ i just bought one of these on saturday & paid £900.00 for it ! damn & blast
Heh! Sorry mate - But you know how good these are, don't you? I don't really want to sell it, but I'm very taken with the new Dlx P as mentioned earlier.
 18.
can't believe you're floggin' this already !!!! The recent review was great and gave the impression of a good instrument. T
It's actually the best Jazz I've played in a long while - Just happened to play a very good new series American Deluxe Precision yesterday & the sound blew me away
Hi Rich, What does it weigh ? Thanks, Steve.
It's averagely light for a Jazz - I'd say about 9 pounds. Lighter than my last American Standard, which was around 9.5.
 19.
Oh don't sell the 62! Too nice I've been playing my Fenders at home recently and decided these are definitely spot on, to the point where I don't need any more. I'm not even thinking vintage Fenders...happy with what I've got. Tis a great feeling. I've strayed back into EB, and the Big Al 5 is exactly the kind if bass I want next...eg unique, awesome tone, and EB quality.
Heh! Yes, I know what you mean. The AV62 is a really nice instrument, so I've put the Road Worn up for grabs. Trouble is, that's the best sounding and playing Jazz I've ever encountered as well! We'll see what happens, but it goes to show how good the new Deluxe Precision I played was
 20. Hi John, is that a stripped down Alembic sitting to the right of your Clover bass & Trace Elliot rig?
 21. This lovely Road Worn Jazz is just a couple of weeks old, has no extra marks (mint condition, haha!) and comes with an unmarked Gator hard shell case. Currently strung with DR Marcus Miller Fat Beams. Lovely instrument. On sale as I want one of the new Deluxe Precisions This one really nails the classic Jazz sound 200% and outplayed the current American Standard & a Marcus Miller CIJ in the shop. Fastest Jazz neck I've encountered so far & I'm used to VERY fast graphite necks! Price should really be £800, but £700 for a quick sale. No trades. Rich - 07545 471037
 22. Lovely basses, Neil. I really liked the S1 series Jazz I had a while back. It was among the best Jazz basses I've ever played. Funny how a 'mere' new colour option has made the Squier CV 60's Precision one of the most desirable basses of the moment - And quite rightly so.
 23.
I think their initial run was rushed...looking at the reviews on tbass. I think its always best to leave it 6 months just to see how things go. They could really 'nail' the superjazz market it they get these right. Not being shielded and high weights keep me from wanting one now. There are obviously diamonds in the rough though, as per the review above.
Oh Gareth, diamonds in the rough as per usual. I found one as well... So there I was quite happy with the sound of my AV-Series Precision, nicely filling in the vintage gap in my collection & I got the chance to play one of these new Deluxe models (the Precision) with the new N3 Jazz pickup & the new preamp through a new TV series BassMan amp. Oh dear. It was utterly fantastic. Possibly the best wooden bass I've played this year. The new preamp is massive sounding with loads of punch, the playability of the new deluxe is excellent & the passive tone control is a nice bonus as well. I actually sat playing the thing for nearly an hour. Good job I was actually in the place doing some consultancy work for the dealer today! I suppose the thing that impressed me the most was the new preamp. The old one was very harsh sounding & they seem to have got the frequencies right this time. The new one sounds amazing with the treble and bass max'd with the mids flat. A Precision that slaps just as well as a Jazz. Pity it was the white one. If it was the natural one I'd have happily gone into debt for it! So, yes - As per usual if you find a nice one, you're set. These are lovely basses. So do I sell the AV62 or save my pennies? Hmmmm...
 24.
I doubt it very much. AFAIK 'The Funk Machine' was completely stock, he retained the ashtrays and hardly, if ever, changed his strings. Don't do it, pleeeese! It's just plain wrong, I tells ya!
Quite true - I've just been reading about Jameson's bass. He was quoted as saying that he, in fact, never changed the strings after he replaced the original Fender stock strings with LaBellas.
