That natural one looked really nice. You may want to get the neck/fingerboard satin lacquered if you want to avoid the manky greeness occuring. Mine's been done & it's about the best wooden neck I've ever played.

Mine is the better of every other Jazz-style bass I've played, including Sadowskys & Mike Lulls. I think it's all about finding the right one for you at the end of the day. The only AV62 I've played that blew me away was Peter's Precision - That one really is a special one. Rich.

I really liked the white/tort hotrod ones they did for the US market towards the end of the S1 model run. I do like the fact that these will have the 70's pickup spacing and the posiflex rods in the neck. Should be a nice bass to own. Pity about the price, though.

In short, yes they're a great idea. I bought a set of Sennheiser inner earphones for monitoring across the system on the job I'm on at the moment. They cancel out enough of the drummer, the trumpet & sax so that I can concentrate on the feed from my bass, the stage mics, the two piano/keys channels & the click track. They don't block 100% of the sound out, but enough to allow you to concentrate on what you need to hear as opposed to being deafened by egotistical drummers. I assume the little rubber plungers would have the same effect on the sound produced by moronic guitarists, too

Thanks for that clarification, obbm. So in other words, using my two 8 ohm Genz Benz cabinets, I'd get roughly the same kind of output as from my Shuttle 6.0. I was curious, as I've been offered a new LG1000 for a silly price...

Am I correct in saying that the amp is rated as "1000w @ 4ohms", so therefore using two 8ohms speaker cabinets will give your 4ohms anyway? Surely this is the case, otherwise they'd advertise the LG1000 as 1000w at 2ohms, wouldn't they?

You're welcome to come up and try my two - 2000 Stingray piezo model natural/rosewood 4-string with satin lacquered neck & blue pearl/rosewood Stingray 5. Electro music (40 mins away from me) usually have a selection of MM stock knocking around.

Don't worry about the hefty price tag of these, guys - They'll be £500 in the classifieds soon enough, same as nearly all Jazz basses. I need to keep my 2009 Am.Std for at least thirty years to get any money back on it, LOL! The finish of this Ltd Edition model looks really nice, though...

The later OLP models (twin humbucker & active MM22/MM23) come very close, but apart from that the only thing I can think of is the Ibanez ATK300. Also, you can always look for a second hand MM SUB model.

In terms of looks and sound, there can be only one... Another vote for the Status S2

1. Having just looked at the video, I found it a lot of fun. He's a good player with a good grasp of technique & didn't hook his thumb over the top of the neck once or look remotely sloppy in any way. 2. We see a lot of these threads on BC where people automatically decry anything technically interesting, or more to the point, automatically lambaste what they jealously realise they cannot emulate or hope to achieve themselves. My point? [i][b]Don't you dare[/b][/i] decry any professional musician until you've put thirty years' worth of hard practise into your own playing. 3. Stop arguing over nothing. You make yourselves look like a bunch of girls!

I've played a couple of these and while they play (obviously) very much like a Jazz, the electronics aren't very good. The same as all Fender preamps, they just seem to sound harsh to my ears. Luckily, you can play these passive with a Sadowsky pre or an Aguilar Tone Hammer. Nice looking basses, though.
