1. There is an allen key hole there. I adjusted mine. You need to slacken off the D & A strings and move them to the sides to you can get at it. It's a pretty standard fit, but you need to be aware that the gloss lacquer around the hole will crumble a little with the allen key rubbing against it.
2.
Swap for a gibson sg special guitar and 50 quid?
I already have one guitar for teaching purposes, I'm afraid. Basses and bass gear only, methinks... Edit: Oh, and freshly minted pictures of the Queen, of course!
3. I was laughing at the total lack of spelling and grammar. I lost count after ten spelling errors.
4. Very very nice, Barrie. If only! Best of luck with the sale, mate
5. Very nice sound. Songs seem a little repetitive, but I like her playing/singing a lot. The drummer is highly musical as well.
6.
None of them. They're all Precisions.
I wanted to say that, but didn't want to be seen as mean spirited at the time!
7.
That sure does look like a 'ray Apart from the decal, the embossing and the tuners I'm struggling to see any difference.
Agreed. That's what everyone's saying about them. I think the nut is different as well, but they're all very minor differences. It's got the typical Stingray sound and feel. If it wasn't for my new one having the piezo bridge (great for swing lines), I'd be keeping this one!
8.
Rich, i can bring a box from classic vibe tomorrow if you want, just let me know Nathan
Cheers Nathan! That'd be great, mate
9.
Get a MIJ Sting P, hack out the Stinglay from the 12th fret, and then drag the bass through a hedge. For twenty years.
You beat me to it there, Michael! I was going to say, "Buy the CIJ Sting signature bass, remove the body and kick it around a gravel carpark for a couple of hours." Instant result!
10. Are you pleased with the Fender 400? Always wondered about Fender bass amps...
11.
Walk away from the bass Rich, I repeat, walk away from the bass. Seriuosly, this is very nice, I'm so pleased it's a cash sale only because I have none.
*Grins* No problem there, Mart. I already have two stonking Jazzes. No need for another one.
12. No.2 or 4. The new American Standards are excellent. End of.
13.
MB1. Bloody Hell Rich! ....Im sure you can smell Stati For Sale! ...Nice Bass!
*sniff sniff* I smell chiiilllldreeen! (Oops, wrong movie!)
14.
I'm sorry, but I refuse to have ANYTHING to do with the 'C' word before December .....................
A man after my own cold, blackened heart, LOL!
15. Very nice bass & similar to Merton's The graphite scratch guard is a nice touch as well. Best of luck with the sale!
16. **NOW SOLD!** Many thanks for all the interest! Okay, so this was meant to be sold as part of another deal, but the other bass never happened in the end. Since then, this has had a lovely new set of DR Marcus Miller FatBeams (40-100) installed and is set up beautifully. 3 band eq is just as sensitive as the EBMM one, massive lows, huge hissy highs & lots of gritty mids available. Poly gloss black finish including headstock, glossed back of head and neat divider to the satin finish neck. Just like a... Oh, you know! Condition is A1 with just a slight manufacture blip in the lacquer on the back which won't even show up in pictures on the digital SLR. Comes complete with EBMM tools, original unused Ernie Ball Slinky strings & the rather cool SBMM (sail shaped) padded, fur lined gigbag. Reason for sale? I'm picking up a natural Stingray piezo tomorrow, so this is going to be surplus to requirements. So if you want a bass that looks, feels, plays & sounds like a Stingray, roll up, roll up! £450 collected or delivered. £20 extra to post (which will mean I'll have to go begging around music shops for a box! Nooo!!! ) Hit me up with any trades you may have. Worst I can say is a resounding NO! Any further questions, feel free to give me a shout on 07545 471037. Rich.
17. I used to have one of these in wine red. Nice basses. You've got the price just right as well
18. Very very nice, Andy. Just out of curiosity, what made you go Japanese?
19. Final polish coming out of the Status factory is good old pledge. Great for poly gloss finishes. If you have a scratched up scratch plate on say a Fender, T-cut and car polishes work well, but don't get T-Cut on the body. Could be disastrous!
20. I think I've seen your bass before. It's a TRB-6 prototype and a fellow user on here was offered it. Nice bass by all accounts. Looked like a hybrid of the original stepped body shape with the bolt on neck from the TRB-6 II. I'll dig out some pics when I get a moment. Edit: Yes, it's definitely your bass - I have a link to your very photo album! Lovely looking TRB, BTW Rich.
21. There's only one choice, really. Squier Vintage Modified Fretless Jazz. Unless you can see something on the classifieds on here...
22. Lovely choices, Nick. Especially the florescent butterscotch '51! Hopefully these will help with your playing-based ailments, too. Rich.
23.
Hey Rich, what did you think of the Squier VMJ vs the Squier Classic Vibe 60's J? Pete
Hi Pete, the VMJ plays just as you'd expect a maple bodied jazz to play. It's very 'top endy' with not quite as much bottom end tone as you'd like, but quite a nice thing. The Classic Vibe is another thing entirely. The Vibe Jazz really has all the bases covered & nails the classic Jazz bass sound totally and completely.
24. Some amazing instruments you have there Alan, especially the Spector NS5 which Peter now has. I've played that one & it's a lovely bass. Thanks for sharing your collection with us!
