1. Yes, both are 8 ohms, converting to 4 ohms when connected, giving you the full 500w.
2. To split, the combo would be £550 & the 2x10 cab would be £350. Rich.
3. I like the look of it & the tonal options are massive. Looks wise, I do prefer the 25th Anniversary model better, though. Have you seen the price of these things??
4. Both parts now sold. Many thanks for all your interest. The 15" combo is still for sale at £550 or nearest offer. I'll even deliver to most places within reason and for a few quid for diesel The 2x10 cabinet is now sold. As the ad says, MarkBass combo & cabinet to go! It's been sitting redundant for ages, as all of my work is done through my Roland Bass cube these days. £900 for the lot including balanced output cable & power lead. Excellent condition. Collection advised, or will meet half way for fuel cost.
5. Here's a recent one from a wedding a few weeks ago. Note LED's in action...
6. Indeed Mart - The prices have increased so a 5-string Streamline is now £1495 before you start adding any options... Here's my Streamline in action at a recent wedding - And the rest of my motley crew...
7. Nice looking bass - I've read ads about these in BGM & they seem really good. What's your opinion? Rich.
8. Lovely looking bass, Jim. I love Jack Cassady's sound on these - Best of luck with the sale!
9. Show us some pics of your no.1 bass, then
10. For me it's a case of horses for courses. The job I'm doing this week and next (a two week run of the "Footloose" stage show), needs a 5-string for only a couple of bits, but it'd just not sound right bringing those parts up the octave, so I'm switching between my two 5-string Status S2's on various evenings. Obviously for faster, funkier stuff, a 4-string is just the ticket. Only one I wish I hadn't sold was my TRB-6. That was so useful in the pit. I'll have to get another 6 made or something soon... Rich.
11. A bargain for sure & seemingly destined to become part of MB1's collection...
12. Yep, definitely a Mexican standard series 2003 model. Also definitely not worth £400. He ought to have tried starting at £200.
13. Both Dave at Electro Music & Alex at the Gallery usually plug you into something decent like a MarkBass rig. Only place I've ever had issues with a crap amp for demoing a bass has been the Music Inn in Nottingham where they always plug you into £25 worth of amp to play £2k worth of bass, LOL! Apart from that, I've always been pleasantly surprised. Especially at Pooles in Grimsby near me where they always find the best amp in the place to plug you into.
14. Another stunning bass, Loz - Congrats! Rich.
15. Yes, definitely a call to Status in order there.
16. http://www.bassemporium.com/newsletters/0609newsletter.html Just found this hiding in the bass emporium website with all the other Ed Friedland (The Bass Whisperer) reviews. Most interesting to see someone take the time and effort to test all the strings so thoroughly on the same bass. Rich.
17. I had a very similar experience at the Gallery in Camden the other week. I played four different Sadowsky models and although they were all undeniably very nice basses, none of them could hold a torch sound wise or playability wise to my 09 Fender American Standard jazz. So yes, I was disappointed too, but it doesn't mean they're bad basses. It's just that the current US Fenders are amazing if you can find a really good one. A lot of it can be down to the setup as well. If I had money to throw around, I'd buy a set of DR 40-100 strings and throw them onto any jazz bass I tried & set it up properly. There are a few places where they know me very well and just hand me the tools, LOL. Best bass of the day at the Gallery was a £260 Squire Classic Vibe Jazz. Go figure. Rich.
18. Some very nice playing and a great sounding jazz Bargain at that money. Best of luck with the sale.
19. Lovely looking bass and I'm not usually into Rays. Best of luck with the sale
20. So are there any pimps/drug dealers with a blinged out Range Rover on 20" wheels/spinners among us who would like one of these??
21. I've had the Sadowsky outboard pre/di pedal for a year or so now. Makes a massive difference to the passive jazz. I'd like to try the Tone Hammer as well, though.
22. That's the nicest looking "super j" I've ever seen. By the sounds of it, it's your number one bass as well. Congrats
23. Status SII/S2 - The original do it all bass for me. Been playing variants of these for twenty years and there's still nothing to touch them. Next best is the Streamline - Big surprises come in small packages!
24. The Classic 50's Precision (I assume you mean the one with the gold pickguard) is a nice enough bass, but the one I played had very low output and didn't have much about it, whereas the Highway One uses American parts including the pickups, so it's probably going to be a nicer instrument, although watch out for the HW1 nitro finish. It's prone to flake off in places, but some people like that But as always, you're going to get good and bad examples in all mass produced ranges, so try before you buy. Rich.
