**NOW TRADED**Ashdown MAG Evo-II rig**NOW TRADED***

Or you could try the settings of the eq hooligan... Max out the treble & bass then leave the mids in the centre indent with an even, centred balance of the pickup pan. Nice!

Burns Bison...anyone played one of the Korean versions?
OutToPlayJazz replied to thebeat's topic in Bass Guitars
Haha! I like Bongos, too! I've always thought that the current Bison looks like a really cool alternative to a Precision - Especially in white with the gold hardware -
That Precision that ezbass bought looks really nice, but I'm still failing to see where the extra £500 over the Standard series went. How many Mexicans do you have to pay a dollar a day to attack new basses with an electric sander?

This Ashdown rig has surpassed all my expectations, but now I've changed musical directions, it's up for grabs. I originally bought the combo in January at 4 months old from an Italian gentleman in Stockport. This is the new MAG Evo II series with the built in compressor. At the time I also bought a 1x15 deep cabinet with it, but have since sold that and added a brand new 2x10 with horn unit. The 2x10 cab has literally done one weekend of gigs, so the same as the combo, looks utterly new. The sound from the combination of the two is ultra rich & mixing the cabs was definitely the way to go. Buyer collects from South Humberside, 2 miles from the Humber Bridge. £350 for the lot - Interesting basses as trades will be considered

MUSICMAN stingray 4 / 5 & Sterling - Same sound??
OutToPlayJazz replied to Shonks's topic in Bass Guitars
I played Mart's lovely met.red 4 yesterday & it's definitely very different to the 5. I've never found a 5 I really liked, to be honest. There's just something inherantly dull about the sound. -
The up to date prices are here... Rich.

Just a bit of a change, BB... Sold my old SII because it was such a shame to have it sitting, then saw this one & decided to make an offer to Mart who'd been looking at Streamlines for a while. That way, Mart got a very reasonably priced Streamline & I got a nice new one with the white LED's As for the LED's, the side ones are nice & subtle, but the fronts are like a quartet of trucks about to run you over!
-
Mart, really glad you like it mate. It really is a "10 minute" bass... You just seem to mould with it. And that sound...! Nice bass, Barney! Here's my new one, picked up tonight from Macko1968, stunning and only one month old... Here are Mick's original pics...

Just been up 'north to buy an almost new Streamline with white LED's from Mick this evening. Not only was the bass utterly perfect, but Mick & his wife are most welcoming with coffee & biscuits as well! Thanks for a hassle free deal, Mick! Best regards, Rich.

Just sold Mart my original 006 Status Streamline today. He's at last a fully paid up member of the Status club I've known Mart for a while now, so you'll not be surprised to hear that he's a real gent & a pleasure as always to deal with. Hope you enjoy your new bass, mate! Rich.

Yes, the 2008/09 models are very nice - But you still have to choose carefully. I luckily had a choice of two when I bought mine last year.(One was perfect & the other had some serious lacquer flaws & a huge weight!) Basically when you look at the Sadowskys, you're looking at the difference between high quality, small workshop, boutique basses compared to something mass produced & yes, there will be some nice Fenders, but there will always be some dogs when you mass produce something.

Shingai Playing Bass on 'don't upset the rhythm'
OutToPlayJazz replied to Jean-Luc Pickguard's topic in General Discussion
I quite like that - And I don't even listen to any current music usually, miserable old git that I am! -
Haha! So we're all tragically uncool, then? Thought so!

So, pray tell me, oh great BBC - What is in fashion bass-wise at the moment?
-
A Status bass is always singing, the player has to orchestrate what goes into the amp.
That's very profound, Steve - But very, very true
-
I was only saying to my Status-owning friend in Canada a short while ago, that Streamlines seemed quite rare for their first year of production (from early 2008), but now they're getting seriously popular! Can't wait to get my new one on Saturday

Nice post, BBC Yes, you're absolutely right - Fashion is one thing and quality/playability is quite another. For me personally, yes I do swear by the things, but then again I've been playing them for 20 years, so I know them inside out. As for fashion, I don't think the look of a bass is important at all - There are fashions in sound, though. I've just agreed to buy one of the new mudbucker equipped Billy Sheehan BB714BS Yamahas for the reason that I've been asked a couple of times on sessions to come up with a modern "dub" bass sound. That seems to be one fashion at the moment in terms of sound. Personally I hate that sound, but if people are paying me to create it, then so be it, musical prostitute that I am! Upon reflection, I don't think that Status is 'out of fashion' at all. More and more people are moving onto Status basses & the company's order book is bursting, currently with a fourteen week minimum wait on orders. You'll always get people swapping and changing & of course, as some people won't like a Status they've bought. Not everyone likes the same gear. But we are going see a few high end basses for sale at the moment, what with more and more jobs going down the pan & money harder to come by. I just sold two - One due to the fact that I wasn't playing it (basses need to earn me money or they leave my employ rapidly!), and another because I've bought a newer, higher spec model. Rich.

Thomann are usually very good - At least if it does turn out to be a dog or a Friday afternoon bass, you'll be able to return it easily enough. I bought one Fender from Thomann a while ago & yes, I got a good one, but I'm always wary with Fender. For me, try before you buy is a must. As for the model choice, I'd go for the American Standard & get a Sadowsky outboard preamp if you feel you need more tone or output. Rich.

Another amazing lesson from the BBC school of tact & diplomacy! You'd think after several bans, people would learn... But then again those bruises remind me of the old addage of, "What do you tell someone with two black eyes? - Nothing, you've told them twice already!!!"

Lfalex's bunch. With new addition! Streamline review link added.

As I've said in two other places... Stunning, Alex! And I'm really glad you like it Rich. -
