  5. Hi Cicero! Nice bass! Welcome!
  6. DO IT! πŸ˜€ This is looking interesting!
  7. I've never been happy with my sound, but when gigs have gone well with people really enjoying the band, then I tend to not be so bothered and enjoy the moment, and think I must be doing something right. Everyone else's sound always seems to be better than mine, whatever setup I'm using. Just like every other bass player is better than me (although they are). GAS is built on this. Odds are, your gear and playing is fab, but sometimes a venue will sound poor for bass (standing frequency etc.). Keep everything; buy new gear; try to enjoy. And remember; it could be worse - you could be a singist.
  8. ...and maybe microporous tape as well.
  9. Superglue. Most definitely superglue. Looks quite spectacular from the photo! Good luck πŸ‘

  13. ...but but but - yoofs are invincible & immortal *unsure*
  14. ... failing that, put bricks in their paper round bags, little bas***ds! πŸ˜€
  15. Everyone has something to contribute, its just a matter of finding the right context. The OP is going to be the best bassist for the right band. The hard part is finding THAT band. It will happen, I'm sure πŸ€
  16. I joined a new band last year (I was 42). It didn't work out for a number of reasons, but partly because the other band members, despite being in their late 30's, had teenage expectations of how much work was required to get gigging. Apparently 1/2 a rehearsal was enough for a new, original song, then move on to the next; planning gigs a fortnight away with a setlist of 3 partially finished songs etc. Not impressed. I think that you're never too old to rock n' roll (JT), but maturity and experience makes you a better musician and band member. You'll find the right band & forget all about the yoofs πŸ˜€ Good luck!
  17. Thank-you Hellzero πŸ‡«πŸ‡·
  18. You can download the audio files here: https://www.dummies.com/book-extras/bass-guitar-for-dummies-3rd-edition-resource-center/ and then burn them to disk if you want. πŸ‘ Hugh
  19. I suppose the real question is, is it any good for metal? 🀘
  20. My first bass was a Westone 1A Thunder ⚑ , bought from a friend in Newcastle in December 1993. It became "The Tiger Bass" shortly after. This was my main gigging & recording bass 'til I stopped gigging in the mid-2000's. It also featured on the band's album cover. I love this bass, I have never played a bass that is so comfortable (I did learn to play on it tho). Westones are not boutique or desirable, but this bass is the reason I still play.
  21. I have 6: Yamaha BB434, PRS SE Kingfisher, Gretsch Junior Jet 2220 II, Westone 1A Thunder, Aria Pro II Magna, cheap Violin Bass (copy). I'm not allowed any more unless I sell 1 😧

  24. ...often the cause of multi-car pile-ups is found to be the transportation of Trace gear to and from gigs!
