  1. Fair play, and I did note what you said regarding yours🙂
  2. Thanks for conformation. I did think that was the case as Sire seem to have followed the Stingray theme and I imagine most people considering these would be looking for similarities. In regard to 19mm with a MM pup Lakland 55-02's and Sandberg VM5's have that covered ( I've owned both) but way more expensive than Sires! TBH the QC issues shown in this thread is an unexpected disappointment! Gaucho
  3. Thanks Buddy, however I forgot to mention it was a Z7 5'ver I was questioning. TBH from the images it looks to me very Stingray like at 17.5mm? Gaucho
  4. Confused .com??? Seen both 17.5mm and 19mm string spacing quoted on this thread, definitive answer please? Gaucho
  5. Sod the shipping and tax I'll go £2... lol 😂
  6. Hey Paddy, Very good question! The early Mk1 Barts are a bit different IMO: top end has more bite, a little zingy bur not shrill, mid is a touch clearer more defined, low end identical. However albeit I've had a few later non USA Mk1's they've been paired with East, Glock, Lakland and Bart pre amps. The Prose in it's current form has the Aguilar OB2 pre which is known for its pronounced highs, so maybe I'm not making a fair comparison? One observation I can make is I had a 6'er with USA Mk 1's and a Glock pre which was very similar in tone range. Gaucho
  7. Thanks Paul, good to hear from you! Unfortunately shipping on man's best friend's meds etc has just taken a hike so I'll make a very last minor reduction😔 However that will be the last as the Bass is worth way more than what I'm asking. Gaucho
  8. Hmmm, not sure, however virtually all the history of this Bass has been added to my post buddy! Can't believe I've still got it TBH! I missed this once before it became mine as there were a few people after it, and the same again when I bought her. Still while I'm covering the Vet bills and medication I'm glad she's still mine, however if somebody stumps up what I'm asking....we may part ways ☹️ Gaucho
  9. Miles better than the price suggests, proper all-rounder! You can cover virtually everything with one of these! 😉
  10. Hi Lee, Absolutely perfect for street gigs! Sorry about the price buddy, but it is literally brand new and Roland no longer make these! N/B the replacement model is not as good I'm reliably told. Regards Gaucho
  11. Me too had a Rumble long time back was sooo bad I never used it!
  12. Hi Sam, Yours was one I almost bought! As you say a marvellous bit of kit.......but I didn't really need one after all lol!
  13. A very well balanced 10lbs in old money, so no flyweight but doesn't feel heavy in any way!
  14. Blimey even more history unfolds😄 As Dave mentioned the slab body/ back should have lightened it somewhat? I'll weight it later and post the result. Additionally the bridge has changed (USA Hipshot), the pre amp (Aguilar) and the neck albeit another Lakland 35' (JO5) with rosewood fingerboard. The original neck developed an issue (unusual for a Lakland) somewhere along the way and was replaced by another brand new one shipped in from the states. As mentioned if the 55-60 goes I'll be very happy to keep it, but needs must😪
  15. Funny you should say that as albeit there are a multitude of tones this can produce the one that sticks out is the Gary Tibbs WAL sound, absolutely nails it IMO! Nothing to do with the shape though😁
  16. Maybe not in its current form, however it did start life with a P shaped slab body. To my eyes front ways the horns make it more P than Jazz. The later scoping of the back lends the rear to appear more Jazz than P! Either way it is what it is and it is a very fine instrument.
  17. Thanks Marc, It is truly mint, I only had a noodle on it to see how all the effects worked and was mightily impressed! Gaucho
  18. Hi Dave, Didn't know it started life with a slab body! I knew the contour was scooped by Martin, for you I think? Looks almost Jazz like at the back to my eyes and balances lovely on the shoulder, so a very worthwhile improvement methinks! Gaucho
  19. Hi Dave, I was looking for those threads! I nearly took this off you myself, however it was another owner or two later that it became mine! I believe the last work done was Martin at the Gallery again with a slight reprofile to the back of the body. I've only given it it a little fettle here and there and a set up to my taste, probably seven years ago now so apart from strings it remains as I got it and bloody fine thing it is! Still if my 55-60 goes I'll keep it.....or vice versa lol! Gaucho
  20. Hi Folks, Very last Price Drop now £749! Unusual and unique custom build. Specs: Mahogany P shaped body with Flamed maple top, USA Mk1 Bart's, Aguilar OPB 2 18v Pre, USA Hipshot bridge, Lakland JO5 rosewood board 35' neck. Had this around 7 years or so, absolute dogs whatsits! However mounting veterinary costs dictate I should sell yet another prized Bass. Excellent condition for the age no noticeable dings or knocks, neck is mint! Sound wise it goes from very warm and deep to a modern snappy jazzy zizz! Brilliant low B goes without saying! Cash is king, but willing to trade with a nice, but lesser value 5 or 6 string Bass plus cash? Local delivery or meet preferred, could courier at buyers cost/arrangement? Gaucho
  21. I have the very same! Wouldn't sell it bloody nigh on perfect! GLWTS
  22. All very true thanks buddy! Quite surprised this is still here as when I was looking for one they were sold used for not much less and very quickly? Not least as this "New" I only had a quick noodle on it to hear the effects both mains and battery so can confirm it does everything Roland promise! Gaucho
  23. Paddy, Through the East Uni 5 the difference is a very wide spectrum of both subtle and very strong tones which I think you'd struggle to find in the stock Lakland Pre, on the other Bass I have with Mk1's that has an Aguilar where the changes are much closer together, not as wide but so modern sounding with the top end being so spikey, which is great for soloing ( if that's your thing?) back to the East, pull up the boost knob, dial it up and presto very similar, however of the two there are many more settings/tones within the Uni 5 IMHO! Gaucho
  24. Sadly for me even an additional £250 still leaves me light on what this cost me buddy! I think we agree this punches way above my asking price! On the subject of Mk1 Barts I have a custom build with very early USA Mk1's and as with the Lakland once you add a quality Pre this opens them up completely IMHO! Gaucho
