1.
The one Steve Soar had arrived in the post today. Many thanks!
How did I get through your letter box? Nice hall.
2. Someone could get a bargain here. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/STATUS-S2-CLASSIC-5-STRING-BASS-HAND-MADE-IN-ENGLAND-/160999055358?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item257c4a9ffe#ht_680wt_1399
3. What's "Slowcore"?
4. Jimi use to play righty guitars upside down but string them as a lefty.
5. <p>
That's exactly what this thread is about, but why?? I'm mot in a covers band at the moment. I'm playing in a band doing originals and standards to a niche market up and down the country. It's great but we only play about 20 gigs a year and I'm lucky if we break even! I'm in be process of putting a local covers band together with some mates just to have some fun and make a bit of beer / holiday money...!
6. Because we live in a time were some people would love to share but don't know how. The TV and other devices will stop us from becoming real. Beyonce talked about keeping it soulful...she has no plans to ever make this a mark. She and J-Zey, Coldplay, U2, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Brian Eno, I could go on for ever, want the ultimate in popularity and sales. No soul.
7. Showbiz, gotta love this sh*t.
8. Nige, I agree with you on many levels but this is not "rock". Maybe a new kind of self-proclaimation, with the shadowy "friend" ie, J-Zay in the background. I saw all of it and it was thoroughly disturbing.
9. Just watched it. An awful piece of BBC sh*t, fawning, staged, industrial...will there be a TV special to go with the tour? I think so!
10. Then again, Mrs Soar loves Madonna.
11. Mrs Soar is, I find the whole thing disturbiing.
12.
Damn right I'm frustrated. I'm still waiting the other 10 mins of my 15!!!
Best ever quote on Basschat. Stopped me in my tracks!

14.
Psst, wanna see what genuine roadworn looks like? My 1963:- Edit - apologies to the purist/collector types but the J pickup was in there when I bought it many years ago.
Look at the chocolatey goodness of that fingerboard, will ya? I need a pre CBS lefty P, or J bass...I'm of that age now.
15. Kitchen sink. All tech, no soul.
16.
I'm interested in why so many players on here seem to be in covers bands. Is it because you enjoy it more than originals? Can find a good enough originals band? Doing it for the money? The challenge of having to be so versatile? You are in both originals and covers - why? The crowds are better than originals? Not meant in any way to be inflammatory, but I can't ever imagine wanting to be in a covers band. We do a few covers in a couple of bands, but they are vastly different to the originals, apart from Walking on the Moon which we did for fun once, and it wasn't that much fun anyway Another thing I find hard to understand is covers bands who chuck in a few originals into the set. What does that achieve?
A good friend, who is an amazing drummer was hounding my for over 2 years to get a covers band together. One day I gave in and agreed to play with them. After an hour of rehearsals, I was seriously thinking about pretending to have had a fall when going to the loo at the rehearsal space and saying I had sprained my wrist.
17. You've pretty much called it, spot on. It's something to be listened to in one sitting, so I bought the vinyl. No, seriously, I bought the LP for the sound quality but you get a copy of the album on CD anyway. The whole package, musicians, concept, artwork, invoke a meditation of the coming of dark times and a chance to change. Like all of my favorite albums it's a grower and gets better with repeated plays.
18. Great review. I like it.
19. Sounds like it but wouldn't hurt to spend a few pennies first...but you're probably right.
20. Change all the fuses in the head first. 3 fuses all going at the same time will stink. Makes sure the fuses are the right ones. Try that first with your ACG all vols turned down, then increase amp, then bass, see if there's any signal.
21. Most amps are repairable. Mo Bass are funky looking things, I hope you get it sorted. Do you know a good amp tech? They are worth their weight in gold.
22. And as shown in the pics, it's a real pussy magnet.
23. Nige, that is a shockingly good price and if it were a lefty, I would be raiding the piggy bank for this one. Come on righty people, buy this!!!
24. That's...........incredible.
