1.
So that's how Skynet starts... damn, I'm going to start digging my bunker... "Sarah Connor?" "Yes...?" "I'm here to play Moondance"
BACK OF THE NET!
2. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/IBANEZ-Verdine-White-Signature-bass-super-rare-/251187223642?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item3a7becdc5a That's a lot of bass there. Love the belt buckle guard. Ebony board looks sweet too. I'd bid on it if it were a lefty.
3. Yes, where are you? Please say Liverpool. That's an evil looking son of a bitch.
4. The forum rules say that you must state a clear asking price when posting items for sale.
5. Keep this bass! It is better sounding than any of my basses, (1980 Stingray, Status S2, etc). When I did the mods to this bass and plgged it in before doing the final assembley, I justed plucked the E string to make sure I had a basis to check that the contols were all working, I thought, "eh up, that sounds a bit fruity". I then put the bass back together and had an upside down play on it. I suddenly felt really happy for its owner and at the same time insanely jealous that this bass was much nicer sounding than anything I play. This bass is worth a hell of a lot more than £725.
6. However, Sterling allegedly had a hand in designing these basses. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music_Man_StingRay
7. Either Sterling Ball is a m***e bag of biblical proportions, or this bass is a total ringer. If I were the owner of EBMM, etc, it would be in a glass case in my boardroom as we speak.
8.
Just an idea to be honest but yeah thanks for the advice
No problem. I really want to see you owning a kingbass with all the trimmings, I know it's not far off.
9.
I've got sunshine in my stomach.......
Love it! Godlike!
10. Hi Marcus. Can I be totally honest with you. I very much doubt anyone would want to trade a KB artist, custom spacing, bendwell, LED's for a cab and amp that probably weigh nearly 200lbs and a 20 year old basic spec Status bass. If I were raising funds for a dream bass, I'd take as many part time jobs as possible, (I saved for a Jaydee Mark King for over a year and got it, custom colour, aged 20, over £800 back in 1986) so it can be done. Get those extra jobs, save hard and then sell your rig and bass. I expect you to have a King Bass within 6 months if you follow my advice, you've got about £1,100 in trade with your set up. Don't be disheartened but be realistic.
11. Does this have the "Steve Soar" pickups?
12. Check out David Cheskey recordings.
13.
But thats OK. You listen to the music not the quality. I always thought that was the general idea, HiFi freaks were generally thought of as nutters who read too many magazines when I wwas working in consumer electronics, but we mainly dealt with 3rd party servicing for chain stores and catalogues. 60s and 70s music had to sound OK on Radio 1 or local radio, which was usually a.m back then. or on a TV, which wasnt much better. Somebody once told me that Dave Edmunds always used to listen to the mix through a little eliptical 4X7" speaker, to make sure it was going to sound OK played on a cheap record player, or AM radio.
Any good engineer or producer will insist on playback through tiny "car-radio" speakers.
14. It's all to do with production and mastering. As BRX said, vinyl did cut corners in the 70's and 80's. I had a copy of Aural Sculpture by the Stranglers, in 1984, all 5 copies I returned jumped at the same place. Vinyl is very consistant these days. DCS are leaders in digital recording systems, just listen to Underworld releases, sound incredible on a GOOD system. Linn, the hifi people have invested a lot of money in digital front ends, and they give a great accout of their hardware and their artists.
15. That's how a bass should look.
16. TIM, 80's music wasn't all bad.
17. That is a delicious bass. Good luck, though I doubt you'll need it.
18. £1270? Incredible price for an incredible bass. They are everyting you've heard and read about. Playing my S2 4 string lefty, neck thru at the moment, big love.
19. what an amazing band of musicians.
20. I do set ups, fret dressing and general repairs. A good set up with strings for a bass, assumining the neck has no high or low frets, is £20, plus strings. If the neck has fretting issues, ie, low or high frets, then it becomes a fret dress, not a set up. A fret-stoning, which includes individual reprofiling of each fret once the crowns of the lowest and highest frets have been fattened to match all the other frets, then going through the grades of carbon paper until the final polish and set up, is £50.
21. Can I ask why you decided to switch the voltage while it was on?
22. TraceAmp has a great rep. £280 is a great price as well.
23. If you were around the north west I would have this.
