1.
Ok so here it is, sorry about the slight delay! Lefty Fender American Std Precision Bass, rosewood board, great condition, never gigged, only one small ding on the front of the headstock (see photo below). Serial number is N8363069 - 1998 model. Collection welcome (Nottingham / Derby area) or happy to drive (not too far!) and drop it off (happy to split the petrol costs). Don't really want to post as it comes with a Fender gig bag and not a hard case. £650. Cheers! Jim
Yum. Tempted. Trades?
2. I'm sorry but the finish is terrible, Shoddy detail around the neck pocket, dots not right, it looks like a £100 Chinese copy. It is truly awful to look at and it is presented to the bass buying public in such a way that whoever is in charge of advertising that bass should be "re-trained". I hope it plays like a "buttery thing".
3.
Just watched both bands, and all of this +1: nail > head
Just watched both bands. One was a band and the other was a bland.
4. Sounds great. 18-20 weeks? Wow, Rob use to have a 12 week order time, he must be doing great business these days. I've got a lefty S2 thru-neck, 4 string finished in black, black hardware and ivory dots on the fingerboard. I love mine and I know that you will love yours, they are incredible instuments. How much will it set you back?
5. I've just looked at the pics on their website. The neck pocket has some serious finishing issues and the clay dot between the 16th and 17th fret looks like it is crumbling away, apart from that and the abortion of a headstock, it's a mighty fine way to waste money.
6.
I agree - it's a gorgeous looking bass I ordered myself an S2 5 string headless yesterday - I can't wait to get it!
Great stuff. Thru-neck, or bolt on? What spec, woods, etc?
7. I first saw a Zappa archive in 1988, belonging to Wayne McCann. It was on 3 walls, mostly records, VHS, tapes, books, magazines with interviews, this was in a terraced house in Birkenhead. The next was 2 years ago, and this was by someone who wishes to remain quiet. It was a total labirynth.
8. Like I said, "who THINK".
9. A complete Zappa collection, with all the radio, bootlegs and tv tapes is something to behold!
10. I know 2 people who think they own everything and I really do mean everything recorded by Zappa. What are the odds of that?
11. Spike, no. But I'd like to see a picture of it, if it was worth parting with my Jap Jazz.
12. Those BaCH basses look great. Lefty Fenderbird! Mmmmm.
13.
Thank you. I don't know exactly, but I have 9 or 10 Warwicks http://www.bandatemp..._do_tempo_3.htm cheers
What a fantastic and joyous site you have. Thank you.
14. Really unique concept, back in the 70's. Really unigue sound. Allowed long lenghts of instrument cable to be used on massive stages without loss of signal. I had them put in my KGB Status replica, in 1986, because GMT pickups were not available, (even though they were Kent Armstrong pups) Been playing this bass tonight and it's incredible. I have EMG's in my P bass, Jap Jazz and BTC tone control in my P bass. Like Foxen says, get loads of wood removed, cause these pups and circuits love juice.
15. There are some incredible bands on Basschat. Redstripper, Doors, Velvets, John Lee Hooker. xxx
16.
Fenders, simply for the lack of originality, in all the time P and J basses have existed the body design has never really changed much, and they never seem to try anything new. Probably why I like the Blacktop Jazz, there's a bit of creativity there, deviating from the norm and taking a risk. Thunderbirds. I really liked them until I tried one, and took a sharp swing in the other direction. Like a baseball bat with a lead weight at both ends, unbalanced, uncomfortable and awkward. And far too heavy to play sitting down. Wasn't sure whether to play it or fight with it. BC Rich, with the exception of the mockingbird, they're trying way too hard to look cool. And failing. Stingrays with the single MM pickup in the bridge position, they look unbalanced. I can't yet find it in me to hate Rick's, I like the look too much, but then I've never played one.
First off, "Fenders, simply for the lack of originality". Ok. The Fender company designed the DNA and the shape and the hardware and the technology for the first affordable, playable, attractive and recordable electric bass guitar. That is why when you read the credits on the back of albums....CD'S.....you will see in the early days, bassists were credited with playing "The Fender Bass". You seem to think that an original innovator has to reinvent their original timeless idea.
17. Just got back from a great afternoon. The film was first class and I have no doubt that there was some "improvements" made in the editing but it was fantastic. Chemistry, that is all I will say.
18.
Badass Jazz there, dig the blocks with lack of frets. Reminds me of , anyhow have a fellow jazz fan bump on me
THAT'S AMAZING!!!
19. That is stunning.
20. If this were a lefty I would buy it. No question. 21.
In my humble opinion the greatest rock band of all time.
May I second that. The greatest ever and I doubt they will ever be bettered.
