Yes, interested to know what became of said instrument. Did Jon finish the repair work , hopefully he did by now!! Assuming he did how was the neck post repair, did you keep or sell it on?

I've been caught out by this a few times before learning my lesson. Website reports in stock when they actually mean in stock but in our warehouse and not here at the store where you can actually look at it.

I just don't recall him ever actually using it with the Foo Fighters live or hearing it referenced on a recording. I thought he remained pretty faithful to his Fulltone Bassdrive's and more recently the Darkglass VMT. For me if it's a truly a signature model the artist would actually use it themselves, at least for a period of time, that just didn't seem to be the case with the nm-2. I maybe completely wrong though and you'll tell me he used it for for the entirety of Concrete and Gold recordings.

Think I saw a Barefaced 210 in the for sale forum for 500 - could be worth a look.

I only put them on a couple of days ago and have played them for just a few hours so I'm still forming a full opinion. I replaced a set of Chromes that I'd taken off a 5 string J bass but didn't really fit on the P (actually it's a PJ). In honesty Rotosound wouldn't been a brand I would normally consider for flats. I was one of the winners of the Basschat Rotosound competition and since I don't play with rounds these days I didn't fancy the Swing Bass 66's so I opted for these as my prize . Initial impressions were they were really bright for flatwounds. The EQ on my P is a bit weird and in passive mode it doesn't have a tone control so initially I was a bit on the fence about them. That being said I'd tried Deep Talkin' Bass and the Chromes on this bass and hadn't liked either of them very much either. However, this morning I played with the EQ on the amp, put a slight cut on the mids, and dropped the treble right down to 9 O' Clock and I was getting a tone I was really digging. Not just for the Motown stuff but also for some southern / classic rock I'm practising for an upcoming jam night with some ex-band buddies. It was the first time I've got a sound from that bass that I was really into. I'll take this bass along to the Jam night in a few weeks along with my go-to Sandberg PJ (which is strung with my favourite strings, Cobalt Flats) to see how it compares at volume.

As I said It was a curiosity as I've only ever really played through 10's. The B15 was an iconic amp from that era and thought it would be fun to recreate it. Anyways as per your suggestions of getting the tone. All valve head and a 2x12 cabinet P Bass with Flats In regards to muting technique I'm working with the Rocco Prestia style to save messing with foam or bass mutes. It's sounding pretty much how I want to at home volumes. Looking forward to taking it to rehearsal in a few weeks to try it at volume. Still curious about 15's though

I'm in Watford, IIRC you're in Somerset - I remember that you mentioned your MB cabs to me before when I happened to be in devon , I was working out if I could detour slightly to come have a looksie on my way home. Poorly children killed that idea though.

I'm very new to Ashdown amps having just picked up my first amp and cab setup in the past few weeks. I picked up both used for very small amounts considering what they are and I'm very impressed thus far. Prior to that my only experience with them were the NM-2 Distortion pedal, which was a bit of a weird product since it was a signature pedal that wasn't actually used by the Artist in question nor modelled after a pedal he did use :). I didn't keep it very long but I can't see me moving on the amp / cab any time soon. If I get back into a gigging band I'll definitely look at an ABM head.

I'm really curious about this too. Unfortunately I had to leave my band a few months ago for personal reasons so I've got nothing upcoming. Which is a shame because I have a Markbass 500w class d head that I could use as a comparison. I spoke with @Ashdown Engineeringlast year when the stubby head was first released and they suggested that it would likely compare to a 150w - 200w solid state amp volume wise. It will need to be pretty dirty though, certainly with gain below 11am there isn't much volume there. I'm hoping to organise a Jam night with some guys from previous bands in the next few weeks so I can test the amp out at some volume. @Mertonmight have some insight, not sure if he has ever gigged that little bastard of his.

New Cab Day I was originally looking for a 15" cab to pair with the Lil' Stubby but this VS-212 popped up on eBay this weekend and the seller let it go for £140. I was seduced by the vintage looks but it actually sounds really great with the head. A bit weighty at 30kg but manageable.

Any nom Barefaced suggestions? I had a Super Compact and didn't get on with it; although I will conceed it was super light and very efficient.

Funnily enough I saw these guys at a local festival today do just that.

A day or so ago in posted in this forum about my New Amp Day, my new Ashdown Little Stubby head. I'm now thinking about getting a new cab to go with it. I currently play through a Markbass 2x10 traveller cabinet but I'm curious to try some 15" cabs with the head and see if I can recreate some of that 60s soul / Motown tone. I've never played through a 15" cab so I'm looking for some recommendations on options to short list. The only real requirement i have is to be able to get it in the back of a Ford Focus hatchback. The Little Stubby is only 30watts so a pretty efficient cab would also be desirable. Easy and obvious choice would be the Markbass Traveller 151p, it would create a neat little 1x15 and 2x10 stack with my existing cab. Lee @ Ashdown recommended the RM 115 evo cabinet as a good pairing. Lighter and more compact than the ABM. The Ashdown ABM 115H Evo IV is a pretty solid cabinet, though from looking at old reviews ion BC it's well thought of. All suggestions welcome, had also toyed with the idea of A custom TKS 15" but harder to try before ordering.
