  1. ^^ this Knowing the scale / mode, how to play it and how it is constructed is important but what I have learnt the frustrating way is that unless you can apply it musically it has no value. I'm changing my approach to learning sclaes & modes by 1, doing some circle of fifth, two octave and chord tones over chord progression exercises mixed with a big chunk of time just jamming to backing tracks / songs with those scales and getting a feel wmcof what sounds good. The latter part is what is improving me as a player
  2. I think they are adding additional content over the weekend. There is at least 1 new item on there since I posted the link. Hopefully they'll cover the Darkglass, Markbass stuff too .
  3. Regarding the electric, I've always thought that if I ever got a professional gig like working with a theatre I'd keep well away from boutique and just go Boss. I've always found that Boss pedals are built like tanks, reliable and easy to operate (with the large footswitch). Kind of everything you'd want in that kind of setting. They are relatively inexpensive and easy to get hold of (should you need a last minute replacement). So I'd go: TU-3 Tuner CEB-3 Bass Chorus OC-3 Super Octave
  4. NoTeble now have a Namm 2019 article going: https://www.notreble.com/buzz/tag/namm-2019/ Hopefully they'll keep it updated As they've yet to cover a few things called out on this thread already
  5. I've got two Heistercamp straps - handmade in Devon. I like them both but the padded Onyx one is particularly comfy. I've also got a Right On strap that I picked up at Bassdirect . That is on my heaviest bass, it's nice and wide with some padding. Distributes the weight well and was about 1/2 the price of the Heistercamp ones.
  6. In case you've not already seen it
  7. One for the guitarists but this just popped into a news feed.. The Dookie Drive I listened to that album so many times in my youth.
  8. I'm rebooting the challenge for myself. I fell off the Wagon twice in Jan, but I keep telling myself the deals were too good to pass on. From this point forward I shall be nothing but disciplined (excluding a possible custom build bass for my 40th, but that's a gift and already declared OK in the rules).
  9. That's all really interesting. Initially the idea of a custom build was a bit of an after thought but it's really grown on me. I really wanted to like AC guitars but the body shape designs didn't really do it for me. I guess I'm too conservative on that front. The Shuker series 2 on the other hand looked more appealing, it also looked as though a custom body design might be possible. I've sent an email to Mr. Shuker to start discussions but I definitely want to play some Series 2 basses to get a feel before committing to an order. Maybe he keeps some in his workshop?
  10. My 'new' funk playlist that includes tracks from newly discovered funk bands https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7K9Hf9WFDHRNHPUu1lDHOV
  11. I believe output is 500w, no idea on price
  12. Gear4Music now have these listed on their website for £249. Estimated Delivery 9th Feb. https://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/Tech-21-SansAmp-Geddy-Lee-YYZ/2UA6?origin=product-ads&gclid=Cj0KCQiAhKviBRCNARIsAAGZ7Cd07T9UYyhxtylUhCucU3-Mb_NeI6015LiAAmmFRNCKAMtRceUiV9oaArJNEALw_wcB From personal experience I wouldn't trust their estimated delivery dates for pre-order items (actually that also applies for their in stock items too).
  13. A few threads on BC already for this new Tech21/Geddy offering.
  14. I'm lurking on this, I'd love to have a cheap PJ .. I pass Honiton on my way to visit the folks but i've got no trips planned until mid-feb
  15. Hi, I've sent you a PM with the details. Cheers.
  16. From the same list I've been listening to Orgone
  17. That's a nice looking instrument.
  18. Updated board for 2019 with the Q\Strip replacing the Mesa Subway pre-amp (for more EQ control). Pork n Pickle dropped for the Vintage Microtubes and compressor moved from start of chain to end (just before Q Strip).
  19. Wow, this thread got a lot more of a response than I was expecting . Thanks for all the ideas. A lot of praise for ACG custom builds, I will look into those though in more detail, along with some of the others mentioned.
  20. Thanks for the response @Tech21NYC I ended up purchasing the Q Strip last week.

  24. I was really lucky in that I got to do a lot of travel in 2018, including New York and Florida. I really don't need a new bass, and as a non professional that sort of budget would have to be for something really special that I would not consider moving on. I love this idea, if I was in an originals or a covers band that did unique arrangements I'd go for this. Not something I'd consider for my dad rock pub band - perhaps for my 50th?
