What a great price
Yep. -
I'm surprised this is still around, it's stunning! There seem to be a lot of great basses for sale here at the moment and not so many takers but I guess that's down to economic climate.
-
I think a couple more bumps before I withdraw, at least for now. I only wanted to sell to buy something more expensive but I'm starting to really fall for its charms.
-
Best amp I've ever owned.
-
How about a burrito? A La Salsa three pepper chicken fajita burrito??? - WOW!!
Sorry... good luck with the sale. -
I agree that Harmony Central reviews should come with a downloadable pinch of salt but I owned one of these in the 90's myself and I do pretty much agree with what it says above. Whilst not being able to compare it to any of my subsequent rigs, I do recall it being a pretty great combo with a lot more booty than the size or power rating would imply. It was possible to achieve quite musical and detailed tones out of it compared to some rigs I've been through.
It was pretty heavy though. -
Here are my Sterlings with DR Black Beauties on the HH and Peacock Blues on the single H (this is my one true love and I've owned it for years).

New pic added with DR Black Beauties on, but I still don't think any of them capture the amazing finish.

Have a bump... and my hangover!
Did GroovyPlucker buy this?
It's really nice.
Have a bump on me.
No he didn't and thank you - it's beautiful. -
TBH, I prefer communication like this to be done via PM.
BUMP -
Bought a RokSak from Alan which arrived today packed really well. It's in fantastic condition and he was really helpful throughout the deal.
Great guy and definitely recommended. -
Or you could try a Tone Hammer.
-
Yeah, they come in loads of different colours but they are all fundamentally the same string. I had them on my Squier VM Jazz, my Warwick (both ex-basses) and have used them for years on my Sterlings and I love the bottom, the crunch and the zinginess I can get out of them.
I hope you find a use for them - look crazy on that Flea though. -
-
Woah, those pinks look amazing! I hope you do like the sound of them too.
-
Bump - before I change my mind.
KJM, you could lose over £50 in ebay and paypal fees as well so you could offer them a bit lower here and save that money from going to ebay and paypal. Just an idea.
Very true. -
To take a step back, it really didn't look like anyone was trying to scupper a sale. I think perhaps people could have been more subtle in pointing out the high asking price compared to new and I believe that forum etiquette is meant to be in a PM rather than for all to see.
That aside, I'm sorry to hear about your neck problems and I wish you luck with the sale for what are excellent cabs. -
Hey Rob - must be big to tempt you away from your Sterlings.... go on, you know you want to tell us...
Hi Paul, long time no speak.
Anway, I'm not being tempted away, I still have my all time favourite and that's going nowhere! -
I litterally just noticed your Stirling. It looks amazing TBH. Maple necked MM's are sex. I just got rid of a fantastic trans red maple necked 'ray. Ive never had a stirling and ive always wanted one after owning a 'ray and a bongo. im not sure I could get on with the HH though, that was the main reason I got rid of my Bongo 5HS and OLP 5HH cause the neck pickup got in the way too much for slap. Ill have a think about it though.
That's cool. -
I was never a fan of tort guards. saying that I hate sunburst and I still love the look of this bass.
not really sure about trades. would have to be something quite special to get my attention. strangely im not GASing for anything at the mo. wouldnt mind a Bongo 4H but the chances of finding one are slim, plus im not sure if I could get on with the painted neck again.
Well if you decide you like the look of my LE Sterling 4HH then I'd be happy to make up the difference. -
No Rob! Don't do it!
I've seen this bass in person at Rob's last week when I bought a different sterling from him. Its absolutely gorgeous. Rob is a great guy to deal with too
Have a bump on me matey
Thanks Matt, I hope you're enjoying the Sterling. You know how much I love them but I've got my heart set on something big - Besides, I'll still have Bluey. -
Loving the tort pickguard - interested in any trades Chris?
Cheers I think we can put your Sterling into that catagory, I was planning on buying it once this had shifted but I've been the victim of a stronger GAS attack!
Thanks and no worries, I'm not in any massive hurry to part with the Sterling. Good luck with the sale though.
