I have two sets of used DR Peacock Blue strings that I took off my basses some time ago. I've kept them in my guitar bags in case of gig emergencies but if someone else can make use of them I'd be happy to post them for £1 each set. I can't promise how bright they sound but if you are perhaps considering going for a set and want to know what they look like on your bass, this would be an ideal opportunity to do it for the price of my postage. In the spirit of the community, I'd prefer not to post them both to the same person. Both sets now claimed - thanks for the interest.
Well i am in love with this thread! This is my `Ray dating to 2004. Just a standard 3EQ. Its the only bass i`ve played since 2004 and it does everything. I`m currently in a heavy rock band and its tuned down to C . G . C . F and sounds beautiful! Occassionaly i have drop a further step and still she handles it perfectly! Does anyone know where is best to get pickguards? Im thinking of a chrome one or clear. Cheers, Steve
Try dasbootman on Ebay - he's in the US but I can vouch for the quality of his pickguards so the postage wait is well worth it.

Cort Curbow in Mystic Ice Crazer finish - SOLD STTU

I'm currently going through a bit of a clearout of gear I'm not using - I think it must be because it feels like Spring is around the corner! This is something that I hope someone else will get a lot more use out of than me as it always took second place to my Bassballs. I'm not going to lie and I hope the photos show that externally it has quite a few scratches and marks but obviously this won't detract from what the pedal does. Soundwise, it's the proper bass version of the one F**a uses in that most bizarre of instructional videos. I don't think it's true bypass so that might be something for you full-on pedal board guys to consider. I don't think that £SOLD posted is too extortionate.

It seems I'm the first to leave feedback for Mick who is a fantastic guy. I've just returned from his house (which is in a lovely part of the country) after relieving him of his 20 odd year old Jazz bass copy. If you ever have cause to do business with Mick I thoroughly recommend it.

That is a beautiful looking guitar and the price is pretty good too as I saw one go for closer to £800 on Ebay this week! I had the four string version and it's incredibly sonically versatile because of the meatiness of the MM style pickup and the jazz pickup coupled with the active\passive blend nob. For anyone considering doing business with Lee, I've recently had experience of this and he's one of the nicest guys and the transaction couldn't have gone smoother. All the best with the sale Lee.

I sold Lee a MM Sterling pickguard this week and he was a great person to deal with. He paid me incredibly fast and was fantastic with the communication.

James bought a Diago Daisy Chain from me this week and the transaction went very smoothly - very prompt payment. Nice guy.

Playing music you dislike, case S. Wonder
To paraphrase someone else, you could be playing Brown Eyed Girl!
As much as I've learnt to loathe that tune, it still doesn't beat Summer of 69 for me. I guess everyone here who's ever done covers could produce a list of the worst pub rock fodder they've had to grin and bear. Not that they're necessarily bad tunes, they're just waaaaaaaaay overdone. -
Are you sure you guys ain't the same person, only living completely separate lives on parallel universes that are inexplicably linked via the trans-dimensional wonder that is Bass Playing? ...just a thought
Aw, you got me! We'd better not meet up, the dual low end frequencies might cause some kind of rift in space and time.

Playing music you dislike, case S. Wonder

Singers and drummers are completely different animals and can sometimes get away without even being musicians! Besides, it truly could be worse, you could be playing Summer of 69. -
Exhibit 2 'I Wish': we totally missed the ending hits. And the drummer put the tempo 20 bpm over the original, so no more relaxed groove.
Even 20 bpm more than the original and that's gotta be pretty tough to play - well done! I guess you've just got to ask yourself what you actually get out of the gig: Do you get any kind of musical gratification? Are you being paid? Is it enough? Are you just there to look at the singer even though she annoys the hell out of you? Do you really want to be there? It doesn't sound like it and it appears to frustrate you more than anything. I'd probably start looking for another gig to fill that slot. -
rotosound strings - need some advice please :)
Rowbee replied to ray_6ao7's topic in General Discussion
Worst thing to happen is that you don´t like the strings. Use something else then, no big deal. I doubt that even a Rotosound rep would be able to make out what brand of strings you have on your bass on stage.
As long as you don't decide to switch to DR Hot Pinks! -
