It's also a lot lighter in comparison to just one of those cabs, which was a big bonus for me. I'm not sure how old it is as I bought it from Bass Culture, so I can ask him. I think the tweaking he may have done would be in the use of lighter woods, but I'm not sure. I have two and they seem to me to be identical. Cheers Rob

Frank[/quote] Thanks Frank, that's far more eloquently than I could have put it. Btw, a few people have messaged me asking if I'd consider selling it. I was really looking for a straighforward swap, but I expect that most people who own Midgets have them for a specific purpose and aren't looking to offload them. If I [i]was[/i] to sell it, I would want back what I paid for it as it hasn't done a lot since I bought it from Bassculture. I can't remember the exact figure and would need to look into this, but that was also on the basis of collection, and the only reason I would be selling it would be to help fund the purchase of a Midget.

I currently own two Barefaced Compacts but never have the need to gig them both and am looking to stack a Midget on top instead. I am looking for a direct trade for a Midget, or would consider selling one Compact for SOLD. My blue Sterling is the one bass I could NEVER let go. Yours is equally beautiful, but without meaning to be rude, I have to agree with Warwickhunt that you might want to reconsider your asking price.

I'd also add that if anyone is considering a Barefaced Compact I really do love mine and don't have the slightest GAS for anything else.

I have to say Mark, given that we've had numerous discussions on the quest for the perfect tone, I'm not surprised that you've moved onto another rig. But at the same time I really thought you'd found your thing with these Purple Chilis. I'm still keeping the faith with the SA450 and Barefaced Compact I bought from you. I've still only done one gig where I needed both Barefaced cabs.

I don't know! I wait patiently for months and the day one comes up I'm having a really busy time at work! :-)

I don't like undermining for sale threads, but I also have to agree that if you search online you can find them for around £220. That's not to say it's not a good bass, because I had one and it was great, it's just that I sold mine for £160, I believe. To be honest, I'd pay another £20 for brand new, just for the untouched pickguard and the fact that I have comeback with a retail outlet if there's something wrong with it.

Astonishingly good price on the SA450 for what is a much, much better head than the LMII because of the extra EQ'ing and the fact that there are two speakons out. Gigged with mine last night and still loving it.

I used to have one of these and it sounded great paired with a TE 1x15 but it also sounded pretty fine with an EA CXL112! I agree on the compression, I'm not usually a fan but it works very nicely.

I'm totally going for one of these when I've scraped together the cash after my most recent trip to the US. I saw a funk band bass player using one at the Key Club on Sunset and he had the funkiest, soupiest tone!

Great price on the iAmp and if I was on the lookout for a head, I'd probably go back to one of these. I would be careful about using Parcelforce though, as if you check out their website, they offer very limited liability for lost or damaged goods and it would in no way cover the value of these items.

I have to say though, that I very rarely need to gig with two because one is man enough for most situations.

Are they the DR Black Beauties I put on it? I forgot how great they look against the maple fretboard.
