The Silverado's without a doubt the tastiest looking of the bunch and to be honest the only one I'd give a second glance to. Reminds me of this in many ways: Apart from being nearly 3 times the price! J.
Cheers for that. There's a similar one on the bay for £40. Do you reckon it would be worth a punt at that?
Unless there's anything drastically wrong with it then yes. Got a link? J.
Glad to see all ends well. Started regretting this thread...like so many others of mine lately it was really giving me cause for concern! andy
Oh, no way Andy this one's no cause for regret. I think the whole thing's ended up brilliantly and even if that SB40 hadn't turned up, I had no ill-feeling about what happened. Either way, I'm really glad you posted it in the first place. J.
I've just found this on the bay: http://wap.ebay.co.uk/Pages/ViewItem.aspx?...ass&emvcc=0 Is it any good? Looking for a funky customisation/restoration project...
It's similar to the Aria A-100 pictured here: http://www.matsumoku.org/models/aria/catal...og_pg1.jpg.html An awful lot of 70s starter basses with this Burns-inspired design turn up on Ebay - it actually looks like various factories in both Japan & Korea produced these. I would say the Encore's Korean, the mahogany neck & blank, round-cornered neckplate are typical MIK features & not usually found on MIJ instruments. Personally I wouldn't expect it to be up to much. Low-end 70s/80s Korean stuff was pretty dire and I would say it's about twice the price it's worth, particularly if it's going to be a project you spend money improving. Jon.

Korg D1600 SOLD SOLD SOLD
Bassassin replied to 2pods's topic in Accessories & Other Musically Related Items For Sale
Have a bump on me - I've got one of these & it's a lot of multitrack for the money. Worth mentioning that it can record 8 tracks simultaneously so is good for full-band recording or a fully miked-up kit. The built-in HDD is easily upgraded to fairly big sizes - I have 160gb in mine. Very versatile box if you take the time to find your way around it. Jon. -
If I had £1300 I would - I love that finish on a Rick. Don't suppose I could persuade you to sell me the black Hipshot for a pittance, could I? Jon.

Mazeti's only an importer brand name, not a manufacturer, although this might have come from the same factory. Gawd knows where that is though - China's a big country! J.

Possibly the first bass solo I heard, definitely the first one I tried to play: Lemmy - Keep Us On The Road, from Motorhead's first album: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=11DHbpERlRM Solo's at about 3.06. Still can't think of one I like any better. Jon.

Cheers for the support chaps - I've had a few PMs about this as well. However I think it's time to drop it - I have an easy come, easy go outlook about this sort of thing and I missed out this time, that's all. It's not worth getting hacked off over - there have been enough raised hackles on BC in the last few weeks already so let's chill about this. Hope BIA gets the bass safe & sound & posts some pics. Jon.
wow. never. ever. seen one. I would have walked to Edinburgh for that. Made famous on the 'Graceland' album. £99!? Bloody Hell.
I'd had every intention of walking down to the shop tomorrow morning - it's about half an hour from where I live. Didn't occur to me to reserve it 20 minutes before they shut. I vaguely know some of the guys who work there - I suspect if I strolled in tomorrow & offered them £150 for it they'd happily sell it to me. But I won't do that, because I'm not an utter ignorant c@nt. J.
Just found these two makes/sites.... quite interesting stuff.... not sure if they've been mentioned/discussed here before?
The Tuscany Rick copy came up in the relevant thread on the Ebay board. Here's where the brief discussion starts: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?s=&sho...st&p=881548 And reading back through it, that looks about right to me. Jon.
......................... ....................... You had access to the fone number before I did; whadya want - an apology?
Common courtesy? There wasn't the slightest hint in my posts that I was seriously interested in this? A sodding PM would have been polite. Your screen name says it all though. J.
Hey folks, Not sure if this is the right place to put this or even if it may infringe on selling rules? Please feel free to advise. Anyhoo, was down at RedDog Music in Edinburgh when I spotted this: Perfect nick and for sale at the measly price of...wait for it £99.00 I'm skint but thought would post up here, not to advertise the shop, but for one of us to get a bargain!! Guys are cool in the shop so here's the number: 0131 229 8211 http://www.reddogmusic.co.uk/ andy
Bloody hell. I'm going shopping... Jon.

A few months ago this factory one-off appeared in Rickenbacker's Ebay shop: Absolute stunner in my opinion and a possible hint they might reintroduce the stripe, like they did with the full-width inlays. J.

Bassassin replied to Bassassin's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Looks very much like an Audition/Top Twenty Woollies special from the 70s. I had solid-body and semi 6-strings, and a thoroughly decrepit solid-body 6-string is in my garage waiting for me to decide to throw it away.
It's a Teisco - you'll find it bottom left on this page. Loads of these were sold in the UK badged as Top Twenty etc so it's almost certainly a Woolies Wonder! J. -
It'll be 70s - there were no later Shaftesburys, as far as I can tell. Post some pics and I'll tell you what I know. Jon.
One day Bassassin will post a wanted ad for some part of it and I'll sell it to him for a pittance.
Gawd. I really am that tragic, aren't I? Although in my defence, I've passed up two of the guitar ones of these selling for buttons. I like to think I have some standards! Speaking of which my worst bass was my first - a short-scale comedy attempt at a Jazz, wearing a Grant badge. It had a bridge so poorly aligned the G string was off the neck above the 12th, pickups that didn't pick a great deal up & an action so high you could stick your arm under the stings. It might've been Japanese & old but it really was an irredeemable piece of sh!t that I'd gleefully hack to splinters given the chance. Or I hope I would. I Could probably give it a good setup & have it playing like a dream now. I bet I could... Jon.

Can anyone name a bass matching these specs?
Bassassin replied to dirtystatic's topic in Bass Guitars
i would buy this http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=96386 you can turn the active on if you ever want it!
These are great basses but the neck is absolutely nothing like a Soundgear! They're also very heavy, while the two SRs I've had were featherweight. Fortunately the Ibby Soundgear range has been around for best part of 25 years and there are enough different models that it shouldn't be hard to find one with the right spec. Alternatively why not upgrade the hardware & pups on your GSR? Jon. -
Probably Chinese & the sort of thing that turns up new on Ebay under a variety of different names & a BIN of £199. Whatever it is, that's a lot of bass for 50 sovs. Jon.
