  1. I totally agree with Stylon Pilson above. If it's an iconic, stand out riff, then you need to be as close as possible. Otherwise for me, learning a song note for note just sucks all the fun out of playing. I get the basics down then just wing it.
  2. Hello o wise and talented bass comity. I'm looking for a band app which will allow the members to synchronise their efforts. I've just tried one called Band Mule which is very close to everything we need but lacks live messenger notifications. Can anyone recommend a good app with the following features. Cross platform. Android, iPhone and browser. Group messenger feature with push notifications so everyone knows when they've got a message (not necessarily on the browser version) Gig diary Availability diary. Set list manager (basically somewhere to just make a note of the set list.) That's the bare bones of what I'm looking for. Any other features would be a bonus. Does such a beast exist? Thanks.
  3. I like Talking Bass. Purely because Mark is a straight, no bull, down to business teacher. I find Scott really grating. I don't deny he's probably a great teacher, but I can't stand all the fluff and filler. It's too much about him. I used to use Justinguitar when I was learning to play the octave higher thing with too many strings. He's a superb teacher and extremely likeable. It's a shame he doesn't cover bass.
  4. I think this was the same bass I was drooling over for weeks. (If not the same one then someone selling the same model) If it didn't have too many strings I would have snapped it up.
  5. I too can contest these are great guitars. I sold mine last year, and althoug I now pretty much exclusively play bass, I wish I'd kept it just for song writing. That's an absolute steal at that price.
  6. Good for firing arrows at drunk punters. Not much good for anything else.
  7. Don't start pulling Michael Jackson. That's what got him into trouble in the first place.
  8. It's an interesting question. It's going to be interesting to see how MJ's work holds up after this. Does good music excuse bad behaviour? Should the music and the musician be viewed as separate entities? I must admit to being sceptical in the past of the allegations made against him, but having seen the new documentary there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that he was guilty of, and got a with molesting children for decades. The most abhorrent crime I can imagine. Yet, I still like his music. It's going to be interesting to see where society lands on this one in the coming months.
  9. They're Harley Bentons, Thomann own brand. Great basses for the money but this chancer is selling decoration only basses for almost the price of the new and under warranty versions direct from Thomann.
  10. It depends on how much data you need to store. HDD's are a lot cheaper per Gig but SSD's are a lot faster. If you need a huge amount of storage then HDD, if you need a fast drive go with SSD. If you want a comprise between the two buy a hybrid drive.
  11. Around 13500 on the phone. Couldn't be arsed to find earphones.
  12. Good stuff. I'm glad you like it Stu. I'm massively impressed with mine. I honestly don't know why anyone would spend more money on a class D than it costs to buy one of these. (Other than brand snobbery) They're absolutely superb!
  13. There are seventy thirteen running about P basses. What's your point? 😂
  14. You see that's the thing. It's only intriguing and mysterious as long as people don't know. If I started to explain it peoples eyes would glaze over and they'd soon lose interest. I just tell people I earn my living online and let their imaginations run wild. I could almost guarantee pretty much anything they come up with is more interesting than the reality.
  15. Oh God no! That means my drummer is officially a musician. I'll never live that one down. 😂
  16. This is something I absolutely loathe. It's almost always the first question a person asks when you meet them and I find it incredibly rude. Trying to define someone by how they put food on the table is just nonsense. In fact very few people know how I earn a living because it's a question I refuse to answer. As I live a very nice life outside the UK and make my living from home it drives people insane because I refuse to tell them how I do it. Which suits me just fine.
  17. I don't know. That's precisely the point of the question. I don't think there's any right or wrong answer. But I'm interested in where other people feel that threshold is.
  18. Yeah tell me about it. I used to be a nightclub doorman (bouncer). Try that one on your can insurance renewal.
