  1. I think there's a 30 day free trial. Probably worth at least doing that and seeing if it's going to be useful enough to carry on. 😉
  2. Yeah Drumeo looks really good but it's a bit pricey with the monthly sub. I'm ideally looking for something more akin to the TalkingBass model, where you buy the course then you own it for life and can do it in your own time.
  3. Good advice. Thanks Doug. 👍
  4. I bought a fairly decent electronic drum kit a couple of years ago for a recording project that never really got off the ground. Nothing much happening with my bass playing at the moment and I've always fancied my chances on the drums and can just about hold a very basic beat. The problem is I need a structured approach and although there's lots of good resources on YouTube etc it's all a bit scattergun. Does anyone have any recommendations for any structured online drumming courses? I've found one on Udemy that seems to be decently rated. But just wondering if anyone has any first hand experience. Unfortunately in person lessons are a no go for several reasons. Cheers.
  5. Unfortunately hidden behind a paywall.
  6. I actually really like the look of that. Although I have no desire to take on a "project".
  7. Is it the one that goes, plinky plinky plonk twang?
  8. I've never owned one of their basses. But I had one of their Les Paul style guitars and it was absolutely superb!
  9. I'd never actually seen the Led Zep Live Aid performance until yesterday after this thread piqued my curiosity. Yup. It's bad!
  10. Hardly worth looking into the technical details on such a budget instrument. 😉
  11. A bit of both. In marketing bigger always sounds better. But as I understand it, there's no industry standard way of measuring power. Even RMS calculations vary across manufacturers.
  12. Calling our resident expert @Bill Fitzmaurice
  13. Can you print me a Rickenbacker? 😂
  14. Wow! I don't know which is worse. The looks or the price.
  15. If all else fails there are at least three Cash Converters (pawn shops) in Leeds. I can guarantee they will all have a bass or two of some sort. You could buy one from there and sell it back to them the next day. You might lose a few quid but would probably work out about the same as renting one. They may even be able to arrange some kind of rental agreement for 24 hours.
  16. Overrated - gigging Underrated - staying home relaxing with your feet up watching the telly.
  17. 11000 Watts and the sliders don't get past number 1. That's some headroom. 😂
  18. Looks like I will be remaining in blissful ignorance then. I'm done with farcebook.
  19. Does anybody have a copy of it that doesn't link to Farcebook?
  20. Hardly a surprise. There's nothing "real" about Madonna anymore.
  21. As the forum is search engine searchable a lot of traffic is probably driven here from people googling things. Only wanting to know something specific but not interested in joining the forum. I do the same occasionally with the other bass forum over the pond. I'll read through the odd thread until I get the answer in looking for, but I would have no interest in joining.
  22. I've had one of their semi acoustic basses for years. They used to be branded sub zero, but they're still selling essentially the same bass and just keep changing the colours and renaming it (well if it's good enough for Fender) usually after different cities in the USA. I bought it as B stock for about 100 quid but couldn't find a single thing wrong with it. After several years the electronics have gone a bit shoddy, and it's very flat and woody sounding, but other than that it's a nice enough looking thing and perfectly playable.
  23. Yup. I've pretty much given up on the whole idea too. I haven't played since April when the band had an extremely minor disagreement, which would ordinarily be water off a duck's back, but this time it coincided with an extremely busy time at work and my mother's health taking a turn for the worse, so I just couldn't be ar5ed. Now all my time and mental energy is taken up caring for mum who has terminal cancer. Even the thought of gigging or rehearsing leaves me feeling exhausted. I also wouldn't trust myself to be out in public in my current mental state. As a card carrying misanthrope at the best of times, I think one wrong word right now would lead to me getting locked up. Something I can't afford given my current situation.
