  1. Fender AB-Y would do the job and also give you the option to run the Cajon and Bass simultaneously should your ever need to. They can be picked up for around £20 and they're very sturdy and well made. I use one to switch between basses. Edit Although it looks like the one you posted would be just the job because it looks like it has adjustable volumes.
  2. Brilliant. Thanks Jack. Much appreciated. I'll sit back and enjoy the light show then. It does look very pretty all lit up.
  3. I've given the Veyron a good going over today. It took a bit of messing to find the sound I wanted, to be fair most of that was down to trying to tame the bass boost circuit on my Jag. But oh my God it sounds absolutely amazing! For the first time probably ever I'm 100 percent happy with the sound I'm getting, and I finally get the P bass thing. Switching between the P's and J on the Jag they both sound totally different and both superb without having to touch the amp again. I've had the same issues that were mentioned earlier in the thread with the input / preamp clipping light coming on, but it's only intermittent when I dig in and I can't hear any distortion or anything untoward. Even with the the gain all the way off the light still flashes. I can solve the problem by engaging the -15 decibel button, but it sounds much better without it so I'm tempted to just leave it. Is anyone else running with the clip light occasionally flashing? Is it likely to cause me any problems or damage?
  4. I've had I've had a proper chance to play around with the Veyron today thorough the cabs and for probably the first time ever I'm totally happy with my sound. It just sounds epic!
  5. That's just one of the Riddlers playing a violin.
  6. Brilliant explanation of the difference between valve and solid state amps. Thanks. I've got one of those Mossfed amps. I think they're organic.
  7. I'm kind of stuck in a rut with music if I'm honest. Although I'll listen to many things live, if it comes to actually choosing music, I'll generally go for the same band I've been listening to for the past 30 years or so. Guns n Roses. Metallica. Iron Maiden. Aerosmith. Alice Cooper, and things of that ilk.
  8. Really? I don't find them that bad. I suppose everything is relative.
  9. Ha ha. Good man! You know it makes sense. 😉
  10. Luckily practice is at my place so I only have to move everything when we eventually start gigging. Although we're not planning on being out every weekend anyway. We're more of a birthday, beer and barbecue band. What's worse is my wife is the singer in the band so we've got to PA to shift as well. 😏
  11. Well the Veyron finally arrived and I've just given it a blast through the Wharfdale cabs and........ Oh my God it sounds good! The Veyron is superb, it can give you pretty much any (clean) sound you're looking for and the power of the thing is unbelievable. It seems to be a pretty good match with the Wharfdales as they're also very clean and neutral sounding, and leave plenty of room to shape your tone with the amp, guitar and effects. It's an absolute monster rig in both tone and volume, and for a total cost of £425 brand new! That's just ridiculous value! I'm one extremely happy bunny.
  12. Thanks. It sounds great too. I've just given it a blast on the Wharfdale cabs I bought and it sounds amazing. It's an absolute tone monster, the range of different sounds you can get is superb, and loud enough to take the walls down. I'm very happy with it. It's ridiculous how good it is for the price. Even at double the cost it would be a steal. Oh and it looks even better all lit up. 😀
  13. Thanks Frank. Did you order the Babicz then?
  14. How do the other owners find the sustain on the Gretsch? If I can find one small fault with mine it's that the notes die a little more quickly than I'd like, but that could well be down to the strings. I'm hoping a restring (I'm thinking of going nickel wound) and a high mass bridge might help. Does anyone know if a high mass bridge really makes a difference to sustain?
  15. It's finally arrived! I'm looking forward to putting this through its paces.
  16. I have that second one on my semi acoustic. The problem is, unless you are extremely lucky and the saddle section falls in exactly the right place to get the intonation right you would be left with exposed screw holes in the body from the old bridge.
  17. Yup. That was me. Have a look at the other thread, but in short, I'm extremely happy with them. Can't go wrong at that price.
  18. Yeah it looks good, but I can't justify paying half what I paid for the bass itself. I'm tempted to try the Fender though. I've never had a high mass bridge so I'm interested to see if there's much of a difference.
  19. @Frank Blank According to a comment in the reviews these Fender high mass bridges from Thomann are a direct replacement and the screw holes line up so no need for re-drilling the body. At about £30 it could be a good option. I'd never even thought about it but I might even get one myself to improve sustain. https://m.thomann.de/gb/fender_hi_mass_bridge_iv_brass.htm Or of you really need to go black. But it's an expensive option. http://www.thomann.de/intl/babicz_bass_bridge_black.htm?i11l=en_GB%3ABG.EUR%3ABGN&r=app They also do a Schaller in black but it might require drilling. http://www.thomann.de/intl/schaller_3d4b.htm?i11l=en_GB%3ABG.EUR%3ABGN&r=app Another option. http://www.thomann.de/intl/goeldo_3_d_bass_bridge_hw55b.htm?i11l=en_GB%3ABG.EUR%3ABGN&r=app
  20. Might as well..... Duck!!! Close proximity that. I was in fear for the singers noggin once or twice. Sounded great though for a live recording.
  21. This is a subject which is very close to my heart. Being an intermittent sufferer myself for many years and having come close to the brink several times this is the way I have learned to deal with it. If you don't feel like playing, don't play. If you don't feel like getting out of bed, don't (if that is an option). If you don't feel like facing people, don't! In fact don't do anything you don't want to do. It will only make things worse and you may well end up hating something (or someone) you love. I've learned to acknowledge my depression. I let it in. I wallow in it. But I do it very much with the mindset that I am purposely taking time out to recharge my batteries for a limited time. It's an illness. I treat it like I would if I had the flu. It's like going in to survival mode. I call them my mental health days, and I find the less I fight it, the more quickly it passes. The more I ignore it the more I get angry and frustrated and it just prolongs the inevitable. Don't sell your gear. In fact try not to make any decisions about anything while you're in that mindset if you can help it.
  22. From what I've heard even the tube version is extremely clean sounding, just a little warmer. I think these amps are designed that way. Probably not the right choice for someone looking for built in "dirt".
  23. St Anger was the point at which I stopped listening to Metallica, it was total and utter dross (only imho of course) and I haven't listened to anything they've done since. Which is a shame really as I liked pretty much everything they'd done up to that point. I was a massive fan right up to The Black Album, so much so that when I got married my wife walked down the isle to Nothing Else Matters.
