  1. I can't believe these are still hanging around. Please forgive me for being uncouth. But I'd have given my right nut for these cabs at that price if I was still in the UK.
  2. In my case it's definitely down to me being the only one in the band with a rehearsal space. 😂
  3. Stop it! No more basses! No more basses! Just no! How much is it again? I'd actually be saving money if I bought that.
  4. Do guitarists go through all this sh#t? In my (somewhat limited) experience. Most will upgrade until they can afford their ultimate rig, and then pretty much stick with it (pedal fetish aside). It's only bass players who get to that point, then sell up and start all over again. 😂
  5. Wasn't this already posted a few days ago, or do I have deja vu?
  6. £1000+ for a Fender. Who's the mug? For the record I don't own a HB. I was just using it as an example of a perfectly serviceable cheap guitar. I wish they were around 30 years ago when I started playing, when you would pay at least twice that amount for an absolute pile of sh#t. My point being, that technology and manufacturing has moved on massively in the past few decades, and good instruments can and are now produced at a much lower cost. Does a 2 grand Fender sound any better than a £200 made in China bass? I bet 99% of the audience wouldn't know the difference.
  7. I have the Behringer BX3000T head and a 2x10 Behringer (Bugera) cab and they sound absolutely awesome! On paper it's a 300w head going into a 600w cab, but it's loud enough to blow the doors off. Certainly loud enough to keep up with 2 guitarists and a drummer in any gig were ever likely to do I'd love a Veyron head if I had the funds. The reviews are excellent. But sadly they'll never get the recognition they deserve because of the stubbornly persistent mindset certain musicians have, that you have to spend big money to sound good. To that I say b#ll#cks!
  8. I realize beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but to me Fender guitars are, always were, and always will be ugly as sin. OK, admittedly they are "the" bass sound in so much as their share of real estate in recorded music. But that's just down to being in the right place at the right time and therefore being desirable because people want to emulate a certain sound. I would even go so far as to say some cheap Chinese manufactured guitars these days are actually better than Fenders. Of course that would never be an accepted point of view for "musicians" who are convinced that spending thousands make them sound better. A £200 Harley Benton in the right hands can sound as good, if not better than any Fender ever made. (Ooh, controversial!)
  9. Judging by the picture I'd say it's the original. It definitely looks the same as the one I had back in about 1990. Awesome bit of kit these.
  10. I really need to either stop drinking or get the WiFi cut off. Bugera 2x10 cab on the way.
  11. Hi Andy. I'm fairly new to this forum so I don't know you and I'm not familiar with your posts, but the "tone" (for want of a better word) of this posts is very familiar to me. It sounds like you're burned out (with life in general, not the music) and possibly suffering a bite from the black dog. I've been there many times. So maybe the advice I would give goes a little against the grain from a musicians standpoint. Stop putting pressure on yourself and sell up. The more you look at the gear and the more you think about it the worse you will feel. Stuff is just stuff. Everything can be replaced. Take it from someone who has lost everything twice over and literally walked away with the clothes on my back. Clearing everything out is actually quite cathartic. The most important thing you will ever have is your family and your health, both physical and mental. Take the money. Slow down, book that holiday and spend some quality time with your family. If, at a later date things change, it's always fun buying new gear.
  12. Maybe. But they're certainly not £88. Uglier.
  13. I'll take the really really expensive ones, because everyone knows that expensive makes you sound better. (Isn't that how the logic on here usually goes?)
  14. Oh my! I'd take your hand off at that price if I wasn't 2000 miles away.
  15. Can't speak for Hungary or indeed Hungarians in the UK. But that's a perfectly normal setup here in Bulgaria. Everything is sent cash on delivery or cash on collection.
  16. Yeah that's the problem. I even found some of the books somewhat suspect back in the day. I find tabs are good for a reference point but you still have to use you ears and play what sounds "right".
  17. It's all done on t'internet now. I don't suppose it's even cost effective to print the things any more given that you can find tabs for almost anything for free online.
  18. Yup. Reset for me too. I made the mistake of "browsing" online after a few beers last night. The upshot, a Squire Jag winging it's way to me as we speak. The internet should come with a breathalyser.
  19. Not a great picture, but you get the gist. I don't actually "need" another bass, but at that price I couldn't resist. I actually prefer playing short scale, and I prefer the look of the Jaguar SS, but as I already own two shorties, and as I said, I've never owned a P bass, I thought it would be good to play around with and get a different vibe. The reviews are good and they seem to be quite versatile and really good value for money, even new. At 130 bucks I think it's a no brainer.
