  1. I'd just punch him in the mouth and see how well he sings after that. Although to be fair I'm not in a "professionl" band. (No idea why)
  2. I'm surprised by this thread with people saying that (other people think) Laney isn't a good brand. Admittedly I've been out of the game for a good few years, but when I started playing 30 years ago Laney were considered (in my area at least) to be one of the best bass rigs you could buy. I had a 30w Laney combo as my first amp and the thing was superb. Easily loud enough to hold its own against our guitarists 100w amp and a drummer, and that was playing loud heavy metal. When I got back into playing a few months back the first thing I looked at was Laney and bought myself an old 1x15 combo, which is again easily loud enough to keep up with (now 2) guitars and drums. I would absolutely love to own this rig!
  3. Simple answer, wherever it feels the most comfortable. There is no right or wrong. I tend to alternate depending on what bass I'm playing and even song to song.
  4. Yup. You're not the only one. My mouth has been watering at this add for days now. Unfortunately as I live in Bulgaria, and currently financially embarrassed due to renovating property it's also sadly a no go for me on both accounts. I can't believe someone hasn't snapped this up yet.
  5. I don't know any keyboard players, but that's a great set. So consider this a bump.
  6. I don't have any to take with me, nor do I have any kids. For some people being skint is just how life is. I'd love to go out and and blow a few hundred quid on bass gear. But I currently have a van in the garage, a dog in the vets, and a stomach ulcer from stress. I still want an 8x10 fridge though. 😂 No harm in dreaming.
  7. A friend of mine who was (rather is) a fantastic self taught guitarist went for lessons some years ago and the teacher spent the whole time pulling apart his technique and telling him he was playing wrong. Needless to say he never went back, and to this day is still one of the most naturally gifted players I've ever met. Find your own truth. Also I may be a bit of an oddity, in that I would rather have online lessons than one to one any day. If there's something you don't quite understand, or is very often the case with me, goes in one ear and out the other due to an extremely bad memory, you can simply rewind or start the lesson again. I had about half a dozen face to face lessons many years ago and I just found it an extremely uncomfortable experience.
  8. Yup. That sounds exactly like my Laney 1x15 Combo did. Upon further investigation it was the voice coil rubbing. I couldn't see any way of getting to it without destroying the whole speaker. Quick search on eBay and I found a replacement speaker. Brand new (old stock) direct from Ashdowns own eBay store. 15" Blue Line for the princely sum of £19. I don't think I've ever hit the buy it now button so quickly. I've since also replaced the amp and use the 1x15 as cab and it sounds fantastic with the new speaker.
  9. Good luck. The last time I was surrounded by screaming schoolgirls I got put on a register.
  10. Well as usual I'm skint so I haven't bought anything for ages. Although that's probably for the best as I've recently had a hankering for a full on 8x10 fridge. No use for one whatsoever. I just want one!
  11. Sounds like the theme tune to bad foreign version of Shaft.
  12. To me music should always have something to say. It should always be an expression of the creator(s) It should always stir some kind of emotional response. When it became more about the money than personal expression, mainstream music became stale and none descript. I remember some great tunes coming out of the 2000's American punk / numetal scene. But they were all sing along ditties which could have come from any one of 20 identical sounding bands. None of them had any real presence, individuality, or anything important to say, and all of the bands were interchangable with no real identity or individual sound. Also when people call computer generated noise "music" you know something's gone wrong with the human race. Anyone that listens to rave / acid house / dubstep, or anything of that ilk should never be allowed any kind of opinion on music, EVER! 😂 Then ........ John Lydon advertising butter. R.I.P musical integrity.
  13. Yup, me too. I had a boss multi effects pedal a few years ago and couldn't make hide nor hair of it, and everything I've ever tried with amp modelling just sounds awful. That's why I went with the line 6 M13, basically every foot switch is an individual and stand alone pedal, just like haven't a separate effects board.
  14. SQUIRREL!!! I have the same problem. Highly unmotivated and easily distracted. Probably why I'm not a professional musician, or professional anything for that matter.
  15. Sorry? Colour me stupid. What's a slot port?
  16. Yeah, that wouldn't worry me too much as I wouldn't be lugging it around much.
  17. Yup. Therein lies the problem. 😏
  18. Anybody heard of them? Are they any good? This 4x10 cab just popped up one of my local buy sell groups. Decent second hand gear is a bit thin on the ground here in Bulgaria 600w at 4ohms. With the current conversation rate it comes in at about £220. Is it worth the money?
  19. Sadly it appears to be true. 😞 https://www.theguardian.com/music/2018/sep/22/chas-hodges-chas-and-dave-dies
  20. A guitarist friend of mine told me when he was younger and couldn't afford to buy new strings he used to put his old ones in boiling water and they were good as new. I'd never heard of this before. Anyone else?
  21. Can't speak for the Boss, but I have a line 6 M13, and I find it great for the bass. In fact it's the only effects I use or need.
