  1. Well this thread just took a rather weird turn. I like Custard Creams. 😁
  2. I'm just associated with the horrible noise coming out of the bass speakers.
  3. I had the same problem. I had to be honest with myself and admit that I either needed to lose the weight or stop playing bass. I now play the triangle.
  4. Some proper party animals on here. I've had to cut back quite a lot on my bass playing. It was interfering too much with my ability to drink.
  5. I thought the same. The Harley Benton RB 414 would make a good enough modding platform without a special body build and would be much cheaper.
  6. I believe the main trick to Steve Harris style playing is to use a very light touch. Don't be tempted to dig in, your fingers will fatigue extremely quickly at that galloping pace. Try playing by barely feathering the strings until you've cracked the correct pace and rhythm.
  7. I like that a lot! Beautiful looking thing.
  8. Unfortunately I think you might find it financially unviable unless you can borrow something and make do. ☹️
  9. How will everyone else be powering their equipment? If it's an organised event surely there will be some sort of generator or power supply? Decent deep cycle batteries aren't cheap. It seems like a lot of outlay for one event.
  10. I can't comment on the Sire, but I had a Junior Jet. It was extremely well finished and sounded absolutely monstrous. Superb for the price point.
  11. I'm sure it's very clever from a playing perspective. But from a musical perspective, it's just noise.
  12. I was just going to say, Rock City used to be pretty darned good. I haven't been there in years but hopefully it's still going and attracting some great acts.
  13. I think the one of the biggest contributing factors to leaving my previous band was having to play Rockin' in the Free World.
  14. I find gear abstinence extremely easy. Although, living close to the poverty line helps a lot.
  15. I have the same problem with my sixer. The only way I could get it to sound anything like even was to lower the pickups at the low end, and raise them almost to the point of touching the strings at the high end. Then add compression to even things out. The rest of the set-up is fine, and I tried new strings. It didn't make any difference.
