I believe that's exactly what will happen. I believe the internet rather than being improved my AI, will become pointless and unusable the more AI grows it's roots. We're already starting to see this with saturation of AI content in YouTube making it harder and harder to find good content.
-
Not too mention, despite all the waffle tell you absolutely nothing about the thing you're buying. I haven't sold anything on eBay for over a decade. Is the AI thing now a built in feature, or are people just using external tools like ChatGPT?
-
I've been saying for a while now that this all could (hopefully) have the opposite effect. Social media, internet, streaming etc will become so overrun and over saturated with AI so quickly that it will essentially destroy itself because it will be almost impossible to find genuine original content. This would force people back to the "real world" if they want to experience anything of any substance. Which could in turn lead to a massive increase in the demand for live music, live venues and analogue media. We're already starting to see this with the increased popularity of vinyl records. Maybe a best case scenario. But a boy can dream.

Basschat Marketplace: do you haggle?
Newfoundfreedom replied to Phil Starr's topic in General Discussion
Not a problem here. It's impossible to lose because of the way the couriers operate. I post the goods. The buyer goes to his local office inspects and pays for the goods and the postage before the goods are released. The courier then pays me. It's a superb system which should operate on every country in the world and takes all the risk out of selling / buying anything. -
Basschat Marketplace: do you haggle?
Newfoundfreedom replied to Phil Starr's topic in General Discussion
Well I've just this minute sold a bass through Facebook market place with no haggling whatsoever. "I'll have that. Please send it". Job done! There's a first time for everything. 😂 -

Basschat Marketplace: do you haggle?
Newfoundfreedom replied to Phil Starr's topic in General Discussion
It's the whole dance I can't stand. Having to over price something just so someone can knock you down to the price you wanted in the first place. Utterly ridiculous. Just list at the price you want. Take it or leave it. Simple. I'm currently selling a few bits of gear here in Bulgaria which annoys me immensely because people won't pay asking price for anything (as said earlier, it's a cultural thing), and when they sell things it's always overpriced. I refuse to play that game. The gear is listed at the price I want because I refuse to inflate it for haggle room. I've already turned down a few offers. I don't really care how long it takes or whether it sells at all. It's not costing me anything to keep it. -

I would just add that overwhelmingly, on here prices are extremely fair, if not even a little on the low side. I think most people do their research and price things accordingly. Unlike some of the chancers on eBay and Fakebook marketplace. -

Yeah I get what you're saying, and I suppose there are a couple of exceptions. Such as if I really want something but I think the seller has overpriced it, and I can give an example of being able to get it cheaper (eBay etc) then I might respectfully approach the buyer and explain that I think it's overpriced and offer them going rate. As a seller I'm also receptive to this kind of communication. But there are some people who simply will not pay going rate for anything and expect to get everything "cheap" by making lowball offers. I have no interest in dealing with those kinds of people. In fact I would (and have in the past) rather take something to the tip or smash it up than sell to someone taking the p#ss. Might sound ridiculous but I'd rather lose money than deal with those kinds of people. -

I absolute despise haggling. If I'm selling something I list it at the price I want. If someone tries to knock down the price I can't be arsed dealing with them. Similarly if I'm buying something and the price is fair I'll pay it no questions asked. If I think something is overpriced I'll just simply ignore it. -
"Refurbished". "Recently replaced strings" If the rest of the refurb is as good as the string replacement it's worth about a fiver.

The Vox VT stuff is really good and you can dial in pretty much any sound you like. Not strictly a valve amp but had a valve pre and makes some lovely noises. Can be picked up pretty cheaply too. But fair warning. If you go for the 2x12 version it weighs about the same as a bungalow.

Good question. I have a very bad memory and very little musical theory knowledge so it always takes me ages to learn a new song. I look forward to hearing the advice of the more seasoned players here.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. It was my idea of a joke in response to Geek99's post saying "you don't have to be a grumpy old man on this site", and nothing to do with you joining. The welcome was incidental. 😁

Ahem! Are you sure you've read the site terms and conditions correctly? Welcome Suezee. 😉

I've heard mostly good things about Markbass. I just can't get over the *pimped by Halfords" look of them. They're the musical equivalent of an Essex boys hatchback.
