  1. First new single from Guns N Roses original lineup (minus Steve Adler and Izzy Stradlin) in about 30 years. I'm a massive GNR fan. For me Appetite For Destruction is the greatest album of all time. Having said that, I'm really not sure about this new single. Maybe needs a few more listens, or the context of a few other tracks to see what kind of direction the band is heading. Absurd. https://youtu.be/Perh45ip3fY
  2. It seems to be pretty much the same as the Headrush FRFR 212, except lighter, less expensive, and has a couple of cab Sims (which I wouldn't use) built in. There seems to be plenty of bass players using the Headrush. 😉
  3. It's full range. So more than capable for bass. Strictly speaking there's no such thing as a guitar FRFR, it's just a marketing thing.
  4. Just doing my best to catch up on this thread. Sorry if I've missed anything now it's approximately seventy thirteen million posts long. I'm now seriously considering going down the FRFR route for a lightweight rig. I'm sick of humping heavy cabs around. My guitarists plays through a 5W valve amp, so they're overkill in most situations anyway. Has anybody seen / tried the new Harley Benton 12 inch FRFR. It looks great, the reviews are good, and as always with HB the price is ridiculous. It should cover pretty much all situations for our band, we're fairly quiet, only play small bar type venues, and there's always the option of going through FOH for outdoor gigs. https://www.thomann.de/intl/harley_benton_frfr_112a_guitar_dsp_monitor.htm?i11l=en_GB%3ABG.EUR
  5. Thanks. Yeah I also have the Bugera, so output control into the cabs will be essential. I'm now debating whether to go for the the TC cabs, or go FRFR speaker for a lightweight rig. The new v Harley Benton FRFR speaker looks ridiculously good for the money. A lot more powerful, cheaper and even lighter than two of the TC's. One load out from the car, speaker in one hand, bass case in the other. What is a boy to do? https://www.thomann.de/intl/harley_benton_frfr_112a_guitar_dsp_monitor.htm?i11l=en_GB%3ABG.EUR
  6. I've decided I've had enough of lugging heavy cabs around so I'm looking for a super lightweight rig. I already have a small class D head, so that's covered. Then I spotted the TC Electronic BC208's at Thomann (back in stock in the next week or so). The TCE stuff seems to be generally well regarded on here, the reviews are extremely positive, the price is really good at 185 Euros each, they have a small footprint, and they only weigh around 10kg each. We're a fairly quiet, small venue, coffee shop type band, and unlike most bands I'm constantly telling my guitarists to turn up and drummer to play louder 😂 So two of these at 200w should be ample for most situations. Does anyone have any experience of these cabs? Any thoughts or advice? Thanks.
  7. After humping my heavy cabs around in 40 degrees yesterday, I've also been thinking about a lightweight rig. I've just come across these TC Electronic 2x8's on Thomann. 200 watts each at 8 ohms. They way in at a mere 10.4kg and Only cost 185 Euros (don't know how that would translate no Brexit pounds) That seems to tick plenty of boxes for me. https://www.thomann.de/intl/tc_electronic_bc208_bass_cab.htm?i11l=en_GB%3ABG.EUR
  8. Can you use the line out and XLR simultaneously on these to send one signal to your amp / cab, and another direct to the PA? My guitarist has an old valve amp with no DI so other than micing the cab there's no way to get him to the FOH PA. This could potentially be a great, cheap solution.
  9. Well I'm back on the horse. We did our first gig yesterday afternoon for a local dog rescue charity. It was, in fact our first ever with my new, all original material band. It was baking hot at about 35°c in the shade, so bloody hard work, but otherwise a nice chilled out afternoon. There were only about 40 people there, but the original material seemed to go down well, especially amongst the local Bulgarian population who have a really great enthusiasm and thirst for live music. Even if they don't always understand the lyrics 😆. We were also approached by another local band who, like us have about an hour's worth of original material, with a view to doing something together. So there could well be a few more gigs on the horizon.
  10. I disagree. It smacks of parody / social experiment or some kind of marketing to me. It's too well produced to be so wrong. Even the actual singing is too wrong, to the point where it seems rehearsed.
  11. You can change strings? I love this forum. I'm always learning new things.
  12. You can join my death metal band. We play at the church of unholy Satan every full moon.
  13. That wasn't exactly the pop culture reference I was going for. 🤔
  14. I had one that said head boy. But that was for entirely different reasons.
  15. You're only saying that because you're just a lowly explorer. 😂 I like it! More badges please! 😁
  16. I kind of feel the same way about people who want an exact replica of the particular musicians instrument and will pay a fortune to have every little scratch and blemish added to look at much as possible as the original instrument. Unless your going to go the whole hog and have plastic surgery yourself, it seems utterly pointless to me. Sounding at least passably like the band you're a tribute to is fine as far as I'm concerned.
  17. Is this a new thing since the site update, or have they always been there? If so I've only just started getting notifications about them since the update. What else is there to collect? I'm hoping to get my 100m swimming badge next. 😁
  18. Sadly I don't think his voice had been the same since the throat cancer surgery. I don't know if it's a purely physical effect, or of he's just a lot more guarding of his throat now. But the raw power be had in the earlier albums is very rarely present in the later ones
