Gangnam Style Absolute dross! Also the first video on YouTube to hit 1 billion views. That's no accounting for taste. I'm sure he's gutted I think it's shyte. -
Strings cost more than the bass
Newfoundfreedom replied to TheGreek's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
What's this "changing strings" of which you speak? I've never heard such nonsense! -
But............switches!

Do you have a supportive partner and is it important?

My wife's the singer in my band. So I'm pretty much covered. -
Only with the Wharfdale branded ones. As I said above. I have found then to be absolutely superb, and great value for money. It looks like they've now rebranded them back to Albion.
-
Indeed. The Wharfdales and Albion were made (or at least designed) by the same person (Steve Grindrod). Although Albion were previously a much more boutique amp. The one above looks like it's something cobbled together from leftovers. Could be a bargain though if it's anything like the Wharfdales. I still have mine (2x10 + 1x15) as my primary cabs. They were an absolute steal, they're still going strong after about 2 years and they still sound great.

Some VERY good news at last - live music back by the Spring?
Newfoundfreedom replied to Al Krow's topic in General Discussion
First gig for us on 31st July here in Bulgaria. Although a lot of bands have been out gigging for months now. It will be the first for us this new band doing original music. We got together just as Covid hit so bad timing in that respect. But at least it took the pressure off of having to "get out there". It's only a small charity gig for a local dog charity which the individual members of the band have all been helped by at one time or another. So it will be nice to give a bit back. It should be a nice little chilled out, outdoor barbeque type gig in the afternoon sunshine. Not a bad way to break a new bands cherry. -
Teenage Bassist Required - BURY, BOLTON, BURNLEY AREA

Congratulations! Good luck with the band. π -
Leave feedback here. Thanks.

Great. Genuine seller. A pleasure to business with. Thanks Pete.

Personally I'd hold on to it in case you get the bug again in the future. With Covid, no gigs for months, so many bands folding and so many venues closing, it's a buyer's market at the minute. I've seen so much gear for sale recently for absolutely ridiculous money, it almost makes me wish I was still in the UK.

I feel the same about Oasis. The Happy Mondays, The Stone Roses or any other band that came out of Manchester in the 90's while I was listening to Maiden. Metallica, Guns n Roses and Alice Cooper. π€π
-
I suppose it depends on where you joined the party. Seventh Son was the current album when I started listening to Maiden. It was one of the first albums I ever got into as a whole, and probably the first "theme" album I ever heard. I loved the story telling aspect of it as much as the music. I worked my way backwards from there and found I equally enjoyed everything that came prior. However, nothing that came after had nearly the same impact. The same with Metallica. The Black album was the current album when I discovered them. Although a lot of die hard fans will say that's the start of the decline. To me it was, and always will be their best album. Although Justice and Ride the Lightening come pretty close. Then came St Anger which I thought was absolute dross and I lost all interest. I haven't really been able to get into any new stuff since then. A lot of it I suppose is because they were the album's I was listening to in my teens when I was forming my musical tastes. Nothing I've heard in the following 30 years has had anything like the impact of those first albums.

I've just given this a first listen, and I'm not sure if it's my ears, or my sound system, but the mix sounds good awful to me. With both the bass and the vocal totally washed out. Does anyone else think the same, or do I need to readjust something?
-
Wow! Absolute bargain for somebody. I know the 8x10's aren't very popular these days, but still..... If I was anywhere near I'd have that like a shot! Even though I've got absolutely zero practical use for it.
-
I don't know. But I hope someone beat it to death with an iron bar then set it on fire.
-
I love Iron Maiden. Or at least I did up until the Seventh Son album. They kind of peaked there for me and I could never really get into any of the subsequent albums. Although I've seen them live many times and it's always a great show.

Covers band for East London pub residency

Nice to see there's still some paying gigs around for those in the right area. π -

Nice one Dave. I bet it felt good to be out there doing your thing. π

Vintage have always punched well above their weight. Until Harley Benton came along, there was absolutely nothing that could touch them at the budget end of the market. Great instruments at a ridiculously good price. I'd almost feel guilty picking one up forΒ£50. π

I ordered some a few weeks ago. They're pretty good, but took me a couple of attempts to get them working properly. Can't fault them for the price.
