Singers who don't understand how music works
Newfoundfreedom replied to Nail Soup's topic in General Discussion
I think I might have written this. I mean, I know you wrote it, but the words came straight out of my mind. 😂 I absolutely loathe Oasis. Trite nasal whiney drivel sung by an absolute w@nker. -
What impedance of cabs required for Bugera BV1001M head?
Newfoundfreedom replied to Bassmurf's topic in Amps and Cabs
Yup. Sorry. My mistake. 2x8ohm cabs, totalling 4 ohms. 👍 -

I have the Bugera and it's ridiculously good for the money, and louder than you're ever likely to need. As Phil says above 2x4ohm cabs is perfect. That's how I run mine and it sounds monstrous. -

Well done. The box at the front seems to be thoroughly enjoying his evening. -

Agreed! 😁 But then again, I also like tambourine and shaker, which our singer does extremely well. -
Three Dot Guitars - from the man behind the 'old' Sadowsky Metros.

Funny. I was thinking rather nice headstock spoiled by yet another boring Fender clone body. 😅 -
Whether you need it or not, only you can decide. What I will say is it's an absolutely superb bit of software. If you are recording however, Superior Drummer 3 is in an entirely different league.

This thread has just turned into pointless bickering now. Ridiculous really. Some bands play for free. Some don't. End of It's been fun. I'm out.

The definitive reply. This thread can now be closed. 😁👍

And they have every right to do so. Whether the paid bands like it or not How else are unknown bands going to build up enough of a following to be one of the paid bands?

Maybe the gig was so bad she's gone into hiding. 🤔 -
They don't need to be bad at all. They could in fact be better than many paid bands. What some people seem to be forgetting, is that some people play just for the love of it. Money is secondary, if an issue at all. My prevoius band were a covers band playing English / American covers here in Bulgaria, to a mostly Bulgarian audience. We built up quite a following and were even featured in a local newspaper. Every penny we ever earned was donated to a local children's charity.
-
I don't see a problem to perpetuate. If a band wants to play for free. Then it's nobody's business but their own. If a band wants to charge. Then they have every right to do so. At the end of the day, everyone is just chasing an audience. Some for financial gain. Some to raise their profile. And some just for the fun of it.
-
Then I wish you the best of luck applying this to your musical career.
-
Definitely not worth the risk!
-
Which is a perfectly valid point for someone who has been done the block a bit, and been a musician for many years with plenty of experience under their belt. Not so much for a 17 year old in their first original material band trying to even find an audience to play to.
-
Which beggars the question, how do you get established as an unknown band? Simple. You play for free until enough people have seen you that you have built up a reputation and a following. Then you can charge for your efforts. These kind of threads happen quite often on here every time playing for free is mentioned, and they almost always turn into a debate on whether or not band should play for free in the first place. It's pretty pointless really. How does anyone ever get to the stage of getting paid, if they don't first play for free to build an audience? Ok there are exceptions with professionally trained musicians with musical degrees. But then they're unlikely to be playing down the Dog and Duck for fifty quid a time anyway. There are two totally valid sides to the arguement and neither is right or wrong. I can see why professional musos wouldn't want to lose work to bands playing for free. I can also totally see why hobby bands, or bands trying to build a following would do so. It's just the nature of the game.

Definitely sounds like an uphill gig this one. 😅

I've never been paid for a gig. Business as usual then.

Pre gig routine. 1. Set up. 2. Drink cider -
I do also like the look of the deep impact. I don't mind getting stuck into the programming and creating patches side of things. Sadly, as usual funds are none existent. But I'm itching to get into the synth side of things. I think it would help to fill out the sound nicely in my originals band as we only have one guitarist. I may have to look into selling or trading my Beat Buddy to fund the purchase. I think they run around the same price. 🤔
