  1. Ah grasshopper. If you can find the answer to such an age old question, then you are truly wiser than all the other bass player on earth. 😉
  2. I'm not convinced. I spent the first day of every new contract (anything from weekly to monthly) in health and safety briefings, as well as being a pretty experienced weight lifter / body builder in my younger days. The best technique in the world can't compensate for parts wearing out. Unfortunately we're not machines (despite what we may think) To think it can't happen to you because you're being "careful" is just arrogance.
  3. At the end of the day it depends on your individual financial circumstances. If you can afford to buy new gear without selling the old stuff, then absolutely do it. There's so much gear I wish I'd never sold. But at the end of the day, needs must, and if you can make better use of something else by selling your current cast offs, then do that.
  4. Don't take it for granted mate. Seriously! I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy the sh!t I went through. You think you're indestructible. Until you're not.
  5. Yup. I was the same. 6 feet of pure man meat 😂 Never worried about my back, or about my health in general, until it went! I was as fit as a latt, until I wasn't. Don't think it can't happen to you. It can, and it will!
  6. It's funny you should say that. Because my stomach just made a sound, which sounded just like the sound that a Star Wars Pod Racer makes when it's starting up.
  7. £150 delivery! I'd pay someone £150 to take that thing out of my sight.
  8. Ah bugger. Didn't realise someone had resurrected a zombie. Oh well, the same still applies.
  9. I know a lot of people slag them off, but you can't go wrong with Behringer / Bugera. I've got a Behringer PA and speakers that's absolutely bullet proof and sounds superb. I also have the Bugera Veyron amp head and it's an utter beast, and one of the best sounding amps I've ever heard. I also have a Bugera 2x12 cab which I now use as an onstage moniter, again absolutely faultless. I wouldn't think twice about buying anything from the Behringer / Bugera range.
  10. Nope. They're all full of @Teebs and his bloody emojis. 😉
  11. I have to profoundly disagree. Everyone knows the best metal comes from Sheffield!
  12. I used to be in a Hot Chocolate tribute band, and these were the only ones I could use to get that truly authentic tone.
  13. I have absolutely no desire to sound like anyone else. To have the playing ability of certain bassists, yeah definitely. But to straight up "sound" like someone else, where's the fun in that?
  14. Amen to that. One crushed disc. One prolapse disc. One house repossession, and one destroyed life, due to not being able to work or function for over 2 years. Back injuries are no joke.
  15. Considering it comes with a 2 year warranty, in that case just send it back and get a new one.
  16. I've got two accounts. I promised myself I would never own more than three bases. Then GAS broke me in half.
  17. More so for me. I find it much easier to relate to that, than going out and spending thousands on, let's say for example a Fender, which was basically a mass produced, relatively cheap instrument when it was created. But because it's a certain year, or has been played by a certain person, it's now "worth" a small fortune. Then again I've never really understood the vintage thing either. I'd much rather have something brand new, than some rusty, battered old bass that is somehow perceived as better.
  18. @stewblack You should do a bit of a video review on YouTube. It's always my fist port of call when I'm trying to find out about a bass, and there's almost nothing on there about these.
  19. Nice one Stew. I had a Ibanez Rick "tribute" many years ago and I always regret having sold it. One of these may well be going on my GAS list.
  20. They're all nailed to trendy city pub walls.
  21. Access to the Internet and amount of alcohol consumed are usually the main two deciding factors for me. 😂
  22. Yup. I'd like to have seen a couple of sub £200 Squires, Harley Benton, Vintage etc thrown in there. I bet you still wouldn't hear the difference.
  23. Great video that. It just goes to show that 90% of the stuff we talk about on here is utter nonsense. But then I think most of us knew that anyway. 😂
