I would think that a bass rig is more akin to a particle accelerator !

How many of us remember a film from 1970 called Colossus: The Forbin Project ?
I'm reminded of it when I hear of computers getting out of human control.

Funny thoughts occur in the subconscious. In particular " won't crumbs and coffee stains get lodged under the strings?"
Yes, I know it's irrational, but I feel uncomfortable with it !

Hi @Jono.
Is the bass case still available? My daughter is in S8, so I could get her to collect it if it is.
Thanks

Discussion is relevant to a lot of us in the current climate I expect. But it's not just down to affordability.
If we look back to Jaco Pastorius, he only used two or three essentially similar basses, Rotosound strings, a few specific effects occasionally, and primarily Acoustic amps.
There are advantages to simplifying what you are working with and to really master them.
OTOH, there is so much great gear around today and so many sounds to get our attention, so as consumers, we suffer GAS attacks!
I've only got one bass that I use, with a backup, but it doesn't stop me looking !

Dotmaka,
Is this still available?
Silent stages - a soul-less gigging experience? (And...why don't musos provide their own kit?!)
in PA set up and use

I'm in a three piece covers band. We don't use in ears, but two of us are interested.
The problem that we can forsee is that without anyone FOH to check and adjust the PA, it could be very difficult to know what the audience are hearing.
