Total Watts

  1. Hi, Has anyone used the Darkglass Hyper Luminal Compressor, I occasoinally like hard compression / soft limiting , doe sthis fit the bill. I have read all the reviews and it seems a competent piece of kit. Cheers
  2. There is a thread going around where you can have a ratio of 2 watts amp to 1 watt cab and they 'll be fine. I was also in a live music course in stroud and the guy running it said virtually the same, speaker will put up with a lot more than the specs, meaning i suppose the speaker will be running at full efficiency.
  3. I am looking to buy the Darkglass V2 Microtubes 500 watt head, but i have read some comments by owners about reliability and QC, being the DI out is noisy and overheating due to the fan not coming on, are there any owners to confirm or deny this? Are these problems very occasional, i know negatives sometimes get the better? Thanks in advance Alan
  4. I was going to use one ( up to a couple of hundred watts) as a support in certain gigs like outside where the lows tend to disappear. I only have Blackstar 120 unity, for most gigs its fine but as I say additional support would be useful, hence my question. Purchasing the 250 ACT is another option i could consider. Thanks for your opinion though
  5. I have used 2 TC Electronic 2x8 cabs with a BH250 head and the results were very good, compilments from the audience on how i cut thorugh the mix, unfortunately i rid of them, very silly.
  6. Thanks all appreciated
  7. Hi, Does anyone use a sub as part of their own rig, I don't mean the sub as part of the PA? Cheers Alan
  8. Thanks for your interesting and enlightening answers. 👌. I like to know a little of what i sound like ( for playability)and getting direct from the amp is a good measure.I have used a monitor just in front of me getting my sound only ( i can usually hear eveyone else OK), but there isnt always room.tried IEM, but dont get on with them very well. And yes going through the PA particularly the SUB does help. THanks again.
  9. I have always put my bass combo on the ground for a 'True Bass sound', but am now considering using a stand just to raise so i can hear better ( i am aware of monitoring), my question is do they detract the sound with the amp being off the ground? Thanks
  10. What a shame, it seemed like this maybe the case as I have seached for sometime to get a supplier. I did use them once at a rehearsal studio and the sound mangement was exactly what I wanted.
  11. Hi, Thanks for the reply. I dId get to this page the links go to the appropriate traders website but the products arent stocked, this happened on all the links on the right, it seems the only stocked items are the BH and BQ HEADS.
  12. I am looking for a music shop in the UK that stocks the TC Electronic RH450 head and or Combo's ( The real amps) , but when I click on the links on the TC website they come up blank??? Anyone?
  13. I have paid from £5 to £50 for strings and while the 50 quid ones are more articulate and have better tone, for most of my uses the cheapies are more than adequate. One point though, expensive instruments tolerate cheap strings and cheap instruments usually need more expensive strings.
  14. Thoroughly agree with the DHA stuff had one of his compressors, absolutely excellent, trouble is can't get them anymore, unless you sell the house.
  15. Me too,.some flats and some rounds, just like a change.
