  1. the Queen, King,Sultan(s of Swing ) ,etc are just praise words for the devoted fans. To me , the Beatles were tops and Elvis was just a truck driver from Mississippi . He may have been King early on but the Beatles were tops. not to be confused with the Four Tops ...Macca reins supreme . The Ox could outplay him though...
  2. I just don't sell. I always lose
  3. I tighten the nut too often and they sometimes made a rattle. One set had a squeak and I fixed it with a tad of chain lube from my bike. I get them for any bass or gtr that I don't want dropped. I hate dings and risky leanings.
  4. my Corvette has some serious growl and balances as well as any Jazz or Precision. It is heavy. Recently I picked up a used Corvette 5 and it is a back breaker. That bubinga wood comes from Africa and surely it must be getting scarce ?? The store owner loves Fender and just wanted to be rid of this brownie ! I bought it a hard case.
  5. I GOT THE EARLIER ONE PICKUP VERSION AND IT WAS REAL LIGHT AND MADE IN Korea. It has a plywood body. Then I saw a newer version and it was medium-weight and made in China. I went down to a 90 E string and that is too light. Will this bass hold a 100 E without neck -bow ? I will go back to a 95 roundwound probably. very nice quality for budget bass !
  6. Yes, I agree. I tried to upgrade my Japanese Ghetty Lee with a white pearl. What set that (1972 ?) Jazz apart were the black blocks. Foghat had one . Some form of black fits. Or almost black such as midnight blue dark purple, etc. Whatever.Ghetty bought that bass in a pawn shop for $200 . Mine sounds great and has a skinny neck.
  7. I also have a MAG 600 and the bass eq is centered around 100hz, like a lot of hi fi amps. This will fatten up the lows but not tweek the real lows (50hz) . The ABM600 can do that . The "low" switch and "high" switch will bring on the rumble and treble bite on the MAG 600. Still, I got the ABM600 and it is nice. Both of these amps are rare in Alabama. You are lucky to have Ashdown . We have Peavey... (sigh)
