Recorded Rehearsal - Unit 26 Studios Manchester
BlueMoon replied to colleya's topic in General Discussion
Nice job....well done!! -
Nice video and a lovely bass. By coincidence, I have an early 60's type Limelight P bass on order (now at just 12 weeks!!) in LPB and with a tort pick guard. I would endorse all that you have said about Limelights in your video and just add that Mark is such a nice guy to deal with. This will be my first toe in the water with a relic'd bass. Can't wait.

Yeah.....now you describe it, I can see that the protection needs to be attached all the time to the endpin. Parquet with DB-inspired scratches is a real no-no!
-
I've been on the same journey!! I've found this to the best on wooden floors: https://www.thomann.de/be/rdm_floor_protection_black.htm The material that the endpin fits into is metal and therefore durable.

In the early 90's my local music shop had a new Chris Squire Rick signature edition on special offer. I lusted after it and then had a rational discussion with the wife. Ended up leaving the shop having ordered an electric piano for the kids to learn music on. Hey ho!

My son collected on my behalf a Peterbuilt Jazz from Rob recently. Excellent communication and a great attitude. The bass is exactly as described. Buy with confidence.

Indeed, he is a top session and touring player. I was lucky enough to see him backing Crosby and Nash a few years ago. If I recall correctly, he played a Stingray for the most part and a few acoustic parts on a NS CRM4. Check out some early Melissa Etheridge albums.

Another vote for the Yes Album. I remember listening to "Yours is No Disgrace" on Dynatron headphones at an exhibition in the very early 1970's. Hooked from that day on. I agree that their interpretation of America is fantastic. I first came across this on an "Atlantic" sampler album. Strange: there is not much talk of "Talk" in the thread.

Great. Thanks for sharing.

Finding high-end bassists amongst the groceries

Here you go -
The latest Fender Rumble combos get good feedback.

This ^^^^^^^^ Over the years, I've not had a bad MIJ/CIJ Fender. On the other hand, I've had one average and a few knock-out MIA Fenders. I've no experience with MIM Fenders.

He's been active and at the top of his game from the 1960's until present day. A session god as well as touring in support of top flight global acts (eg. Phil Collins, Jackson Browne etc). Apparently his passions include hot rod cars. -
Nice story! I always tell my missus that it is a bass that is being returned after having had some fret work done. Rave about how good the guy was and how fast he turned it around.

I finally managed to meet Jamie in person this weekend. I've bought a couple of basses from him. The most recent a lovely Moon JJ4. Buy with confidence .....he has quality gear, maintains it well and describes it exactly what he is selling/trading. Top Basschatter.......Top Marks!!

Where did we all start this journey from?
BlueMoon replied to NancyJohnson's topic in General Discussion
This image is from around 1973 and was of a rehearsal in Maldon, Essex. School band who thought we'd all be "rock stars"....some hope!! Bass player (with fashionable hair and shirt collars) is me and I still have the 1964 Burns Jazz you can just about see on the right of the pic. It came from a music shop in Chelmsford when I traded up from my first bass ....a Columbus Jazz copy. The Burns cost me 12 GBP if I recall correctly. Hey ho...fond memories. -

I have dealt with this guy in Spain - he's a luthier and bass builder. He sells direct and through e-bay. Links below for ramps, although I have not personally bought one. I have bought some Hipshot stuff from him and everything worked out OK. He makes them with radius in wood of your choice (ebony in your case) and polycarbonate. Just measure the gap between the bridge and neck pups carefully. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ebony-ramp-for-Jazz-Bass-with-radius-72mm-or-73mm-spacing-83mm-in-ash-or-wenge/261846956314?hash=item3cf74b791a:g:KWsAAOSwymxVKQtv http://egilegorbasses.com/egilegorbassesshop/en/home/65-blackwood-ramp-for-jazz-bass.html

Fantastic fretless basses. I have a Buzz4 that is wonderful to play. Does that mean everything "Pedulla" comes to a professional end?
