Apparently SBMM made a loss on the USA SUB’s, even though the concept was a great one and the instruments are little gems. It probably explains the quite short production run at the time.

I ended up having a local audiologist make up some custom-fitted ear tips for the KZ ZAR’s. Just had a 3D scan done and am waiting for the tips to come in. Let’s see how that goes.

Great bass. Colour combination is top and looks to be in excellent condition. Nice one! Enjoy!

https://www.oscarguitars.se/sv/4-straengad/5815-1966-fender-slab-body-precision-bass-refin-white.html Slab body 1966 P bass just posted on Oscar Guitars in Sweden. Refin looks very thick and body belly cut is a real shame. Lot’s of mojo, if that’s your thing. I’m not affiliated with the seller, but I have purchased other instruments from them with no problems.

Try appropriate metric size first in that case.
-
Fender Japan typically use metric dimensions.

Anyone buying from Japan at the moment?
BlueMoon replied to NancyJohnson's topic in General Discussion
Ishibashi is a reliable seller with a wide and changing stock. I’ve imported plenty (mostly domestic Japan gems) and never been disappointed. For Belgium, calculate an average of 28% additional costs to get an instrument to your door. -
Agree with this! Even the response by the seller to such a proposal would speak volumes about whether it is legit. If you get no response, or “I’m too busy”, or “I have another buyer just about to close a deal” etc, you know pretty much what’s going on.

That bass is beautiful. Well done!

Saw them live in the early 70’s. Great concert…..can’t remember if they were support or the main act though.
-
Also “core strength” exercises will help prevent inevitable backache after gigging a really heavy bass.

Health of maple fretboard on a fender precision bass

^^^^^ these comments are spot on. You could try a non invasive touch-up of the affected areas using an automotive clear coat paint stick. While it seals the damaged area it tends to stay a slightly darker shade on the worn areas. However, it will slow down or stop it getting worse. It’s a nice used instrument with some mojo. Enjoy playing it either way. -
Update : Bass transport all sorted; thanks to all participants...

Good luck with this. It is a fine community with many helpful folks. Maybe things might change in relations between the EU and UK if there is a change in government? My car was searched pretty thoroughly, with a steering wheel and door handle swab test, last time I went through the channel port. On that trip I was not with an instrument on board. It got me thinking what I would have said to the customs official if I were. Just asking for a friend! -
I base my assessments on the latest date for each of these, pot codes, neck stamp etc. Sometimes they are tightly spaced and other times they are all over the place. Fender, I guess

I wish I could adopt and stick to this philosophy.

My personal experience of the Basschat marketplace has been overwhelmingly positive. Most of the stuff that is advertised is offered at a fair price and prices set by knowledgeable folk……..so I rarely consider haggling - especially if I want the gear. If I compare Basschat with some other generic marketplaces, however, I would almost always consider haggling for items on there. There so many more “chancers” on non-specialist marketplace sites in my personal experience.

What's the bass/instrument you have had longest?
BlueMoon replied to Stub Mandrel's topic in General Discussion
The neck has more frets than typical Fender jazz basses and the body is smaller, as mentioned above. In my view these were a highlight of Fender through more recent decades. I can totally understand your connection with it! Continue to enjoy it! -

It will have 22 frets and single pole-piece pickups from the Suhr era. Great basses……..very musical preamp/pickup combination, which is rare for Fender -
I’m in this guy’s camp. Not only is he a great player……he doesn’t fill the time with endless opinions and comments. Just gets on with it. Don’t get me started on Scott Devine!
