  1. And the 'burst is still there, under whatever that shid is, primer/paint.
  2. Waiting to hear back re bridge/pots, and if he can meter the pickups.
  3. Yeh, I see it now, now that I'm on a laptop. I'm in contact with the guy about it.
  4. Well, the bridge is gone and I can't figure out if the pots are still in situ, Binding appears to be coming away and has lost a section; the scratchplate - the bulbous-end type - is incomplete. And what condition is the neck? Perhaps 'butchered' was a tad unfair.
  5. This almost made me cry: a rare Shaftesbury Ned Callan bass. The seller seems to think that all it needs is 'some volume/tone caps.
  6. That E/B string looks like it's floating inside the nut groove.
  7. I witnessed my first 'silent stage' when working at a Danish festival several years ago. I was in the stage right wings and it really was uncanny to watch the musicians - three guitars, keyboards, bass all going through Kemper Profilers, and the drummer on an electric kit - all playing and you heard nothing, except what was coming back off the PA. Really weird.
  8. Those neck pockets look rather long. That would affect the scale length if a standard neck was fitted.
  9. When I was a teen, I got roped in by my old man to teach the kid of an acquaintance bass rudiments. That was the bass the kid had, and it was branded 'Shaftesbury'.
  10. It is heavy, for sure. But it's a lovely bass.
  11. I have a B4 from the early 90s (V/B/T) and the circuit is very much of its time. I've kept saying I'll put a Glockenklang 2-band into it and this thread has reminded me to do it. Again!
  12. An original 1961 Jazz Bass for £1100, simply cos it took me three weeks to get the money together back in 1992.
  13. He's the guy who blew the whistle on the Gretsch G2220 bass having single coils instead of the advertised 'buckers. #Buckergate
  14. The Customs Declaration and commodity numbers are crucial. Any error or omission will hold the item up, as happened with the neck I ordered. Add in the chaos of worldwide couriering post-covid and you have a worrysome scenario. Fly over and get it?
  15. I remember a thread on a Brazilian faker-maker a good few years ago......
  16. That probably explains a lot,
  17. Years ago, I tried a BB Sonic Maximiser and whilst it tightened the sound up I just thought that it didn't sound like me playing. Not a very good description, but I A/Bd it several times and preferred it out of circuit. It went back to the shop.
  18. I think he buys these things in and posts them on ebay for shids n giggles. Check the routing fill.
