  1. We've all been there with replacement parts that don't quite align with each other and need work, easy or otherwise to get them to match up. I'm currently putting together a parts bass using a body from a Fender Road Worn Jazz and a new, WD Products direct replacement neck. The neck pretty much dropped right in (after a bit of rough-sanding the pocket) but when I went to fit the Gotoh ferrules they weren't 'push-fit'. I had an authentic vintage Fender set looked out as well and they didn't fit, either! The specs of the WD neck ferrule holes are 17.4mm whilst the Gotoh ferrules are 17.6mm but I reckon the latter are out by a bit more than 0.2mm. I've had this across every aftermarket neck and tuners, with Wilkinson sometimes being the worst offenders. To that end, I bought a couple of hand reaming tools a few years ago and it looks like they're going to get used again.
  2. I had one, years ago. The Jaco clone they made. Looked ok from a distance but up close it looked real cheap. Body seemed to be made out of balsa wood; absolutely no acoustic tone. Neck/'board was ok. as was amplified tone, but nothing to write home about. Shifted it quickly. Perhaps there have been improvements since then. Ah, I see the bodies are now alder.
  3. I got mine on a special deal from some place in Guildford in 1983. They were around £400 back then and I think I got mine for £329, no case.
  4. Probably the best thing. I hope Chris' widow and @Fluid Druidcome to an amicable agreement over proceedings. How terribly sad.
  5. Beautiful. I had the MC924 in Pearl White. My third bass and my first active one. String with Roto Superwounds, when you had to cut your own lengths!
  6. I wonder is the US is the same as UK, in that you have to provide a verifiable address before any pledge/sale goes ahead. Back in th '80s, the hock shops around here just took any old address/
  7. You and your shop have made legends out of yourselves over this. Well done. I hope you are rewarded, in whatever manner.
  8. Awesome! How did you surmise that it was possibly stolen? Good on ya!
  9. Is that Dumble-style gunk to stop you trying to back-engineer it?
  10. Simple Minds meets Killing Joke. I like that.
  11. I saw one of his abortions last week. Does he buy these wrecks in just for stinky poos n giggles? This one.
  12. Interesting 4040 ad from Japan. Perhaps the price is why no interest forty times.
  13. There's a track called 'Sandstorm' that could the Hayman, too.
