  1. Knew it was that before I clicked! 🙂
  2. ...did he learn from Leo? 😉 Not bass related but have a look at the nut on this '50 Broadcaster.
  3. The only mad things I remember from gigging days are the can of Red Stripe flying past my ear and crashing into the drums (drummer didn't miss a beat) and the knife/axe fight amongst bikers in the adjacent bar area that was going on as we played. Bizarre night. Loaded out through that bar with the floor covered in blood and broken glass.
  4. I love the Greco coding relative to the price in Yen.😄
  5. Nope, never seen that model before.
  6. I found, as a tech, corporate events are the worst for these kind of scenarios. Drunk suits getting onstage and falling off injuring themselves always brings out the H&S guys. I've seen sets collapsing, drink spilled over equipment, and rude, drunk people shouting at you that their white wine is warm, mistaking you for waiting staff. As a freelancer, I had PLI in place and the risk assessments I've seen for working in some venues look like Tolstoy's War and Peace. I don't do corp gigs any more, TF!
  7. A small studio back in the day that was out of town and not really taking off tried to flog me one of those Maine combos. I remember it being loud, and little else. I passed.
  8. I'm curious as to how he got shocked if he was using a radio system.
  9. After over two decades of freelancing, I forgot to tell HMRC last year that I was no longer in the SA scheme. As such, when I went 9-5 during the 2020 phase of the Pandemic I failed to complete a return for 2020-21 financial year. Back in March, I got the dreaded brown envelope. I had foolishly assumed that HMRC would see in in regular employment and change my tax code and status, Nuh-uh. Unfortunately, when I looked at the letter it was the announcement of applying a penalty, with a charge of £100 per day until it was resolved! I immediately jumped on to my Gateway and wrote to them, explaining my error. Unbelievably. they basically said. 'Ok, you forget; we won't penalise you' Lucky escape! I hope this hasn't happened to John.
  10. Am really not a fan of blocks but I think you're correct: these will become collectible. Are these medium scale??
  11. ... but there's an Ibby Roadster 924BS on Gumtree for £200.
  12. When I did play, maybe one small beer to relax, or a shot of a dram. Anything more, sloppy work.
  13. He's starting to churn them out. I'm waiting for the short story depicting what exactly went on on that night in Langney/Langley. It was never ascertained whether he bought a pizza from the pizza place that night. If he did, what toppings did he choose? Probably baloney.
  14. Looks like there are divots out of the 'board behind the nut.
  15. Sad to hear. Didn't he have some kind of argument, a bad one, with Mr Bongioveee himslef?
  16. Interesting read. I also use Upright fingering down the bottom end and switch to one-to-one at 7th position.
  17. It does look vintage radius. The Ibby and the Zon have access; that bass doesn't.
  18. I remember a Dill Katz Jazz with a retro-fitted ebony 'board!
