  1. Sounds exactly like it would come from He Who Shall Not Be Named.
  2. Has Eddie got his bass, yet?
  3. Spotted this earlier on. Wondered why it was so cheap, given that it doesn't look like a Chickenbacker. Then I saw the string height. Even the bridge grub-screws are nearly out of their threads. No more play on that bridge. Heerby 4001S
  4. Tell him you're in Wick, and can you pop over to try it. I caught out a Martin D45 scam, for sale at £950 in Hatfield. Asked to try it out,but was told guitar actually with relations in Kirkwall. No worries, I said, I'm in Aberdeen and can get next ferry over. Silence.
  5. Is that a medium scale?
  6. Paging @Bassassin Interesting pickups. Matsu Jazz For those not on FB, here's a photo.
  7. A mate of mine had his house taken off him by his Ex. He'd put the house in her name as he mistakenly thought the taxman was coming after him. Things got bad with them and whilst he was working abroad, she sold the house on the fly and moved away. He came home, tried his key in the lock; didn't work. Rang the doorbell, and a stranger answered. Cue 'WTF are YOU??' That's how he found out he was homeless. Additional info: This was his house, that he alone had purchased.
  8. He's been posting for seven years.............
  9. Two late '90s Warwick Thumbs, a fretted and a UF. But more so, this Greco PMB. I didn't need to sell it, but something came up and it went, even though I could have worn the cost of the newbie.
  10. The neck-throughs had the rout; set-necks didn't.
  11. Sure. But your average Aliexpress purchaser probably won't be aware of the fresh air until the bass folds up. I've seen 4001s with the 'swimming pool' filled in. One guy even did it himself with a thing called 'Bondo'.
  12. There's a horror story involving one of those. Behind the (set) neck there was next to no wood, and it folded up like a deck chair, just like some 4001s did.
  13. You left out the king of them all: Darrin Huff.
  14. You're a glutton for punishment.
  15. Interesting to see the funk groove has been covered.
  16. I've just discovered this site. The prices are bit high, IMO, in particular this Indie Rik at €785!! Doctorbass
  17. Only ever done two: The Maton one in Melbourne, Oz, and the Lowden one in Downpatrick, Ireland. In the Lowden one, you got to see the 'experimental' guitars that some of the builders were allowed to produce.
  18. I had a parts Jazz years ago that had Padauk 'plates. They picked up cracks which I glued, then sanded/polished out. Comes with the territory.
  19. Who remembers Jim Bean amps from the mid '70s? They were upholstered in denim!
  20. Are those covers all wood? Or just a veener?
