  1. I think it goes further back than the biopic. The divisions were already there on the American tour, division arguably orchestrated by McLaren, in particular the badly considered Ronnie Biggs shenannigans, which Lydon disparages in his autobiography.
  2. If it's any consolation, when I finally got a Series 1 Point, I found it too heavy, too unwieldy, and a real stretch to low F. I barely had it a year.
  3. I first experienced a silent stage back in 2018, out in Denmark. It was a festival, and as the bands rotated, this bunch of young guys (can't mind their name) and the techs wheeled in. No speakers, just Kemper profilers, and the drummer played an electric kit. From stage right, the experience was bizarre: all you could hear was the FOH, and I felt weird. The only stage noise was the drummer hitting his pads. I can't imagine playing in that environment, no air being moved.
  4. Try lifting a Tweed 4 x 10" Bassman.
  5. 'Bison' Banks. I met him once, out in Germany, Lovely guy.
  6. He's from France. Similar thread on Talkbass.
  7. Sorry to hear that. We'll keep an eye out.
  8. I think the neck, tuners, and neck plate are early '70s, but the body? Electrics? Who knows.
  9. Thanks for agreeing with me, for Eastwood didn't. That, there, is an internet image, and the Wedgtail Eastwood supplied to me had the exact same issue with the Bigsby alignment. They put in humbuckers instead of single coils, but I knew that. However, they were really dark. But it was the Bigsby that got me: every time I looked at it, I winced, so back it went. Apols for the derail.
  10. Around ten years back, Eastwood recreated a guitar that I had coveted for years: the Wedgtail, made by Aussie company, Maton. I pre-ordered one, and when it arrived, though the build quality looked ok, there were a few things I didn't like, so it went back. Does anyone think the Bigsby is out of alignment in the photo of the Eastwood below (top photo)?
  11. Immaculate, late '70s model. Pricey. Located in Italy. Rick 4005
  12. That's how Ibanez should have built the Ashula SRAS7: with the fretted course on the top, and both courses together on the same plane.
  13. I have a HB DC Junior FAT. I got it around two years ago for around £129. It was ok out of the box, apart from tall frets which had to get levelled, and the P90 was too far aw1ay from the strings, so I had to buy a P90 cover shim, and boost the pup height with foam. That done, I swapped out the black 'plate and control cover for tort, and changed the knobs from top hats to speed knobs. The 'board looked dry, so it got a stain and some Monty's wax. Finally, a year or so later, I decided to strip it, wet-sand, and polish to a light gloss. It's one of my favourite guitars. The camera shows up sections of grain in the mahogany .
  14. It's a shame they never made a 4-string with that pup configuration.
  15. '80s pre-amps. My Blade B4 is like that.
  16. I've had several 4003s - some that I never got on with and were shifted on, pronto - and three 4001s. One was a nightmare with the hairpin rods, and my favourite, a Fireglo '41, came to me with an undisclosed mild fingerboard separation caused by the aforementioned rods. The new 2023 model is what I'd go for today. No way would I take a risk on a 4001 again without having it fully appraised.
  17. Today I learned of 'graduated fretting'.
  18. Wasn't this the model that came with the (optional) black fretless neck? I knew a guy up here in the late '80s that had one, with the other neck that sat in the case.
  19. That happened to me with regard to a Rick V63 at a very good priced in Japan. Could not believe it when I found out.
  20. I'm still trying to juggle a few things re this. Until, and if then, GLWS. Absolutely lovely bass.
  21. 68 4001 Photo for those that don't do FB. Mono output model.
